03/21/18: FOX Sports is adding the Pro Bowlers Association to its lineup

FOX Sports framed a new deal with the Professional Bowlers Association in a multi-year, multi-platform move that will see the PBA bring its Go Bowling! PBA Tour to the company starting in 2019. The package will bring a substantial schedule of live PBA events to television, including prime time events and a new bracket-style, multi-week PBA Playoffs tournament that concludes with a PBA championship finale. In 2019, FOX Sports will carry four PBA Tour shows on FOX and 25 on FS1 in a series of two-hour telecasts. All programs will also be streamed on FOX Sports GO.
“The PBA has been searching for the best possible broadcast partner to serve our fans, players and the bowling industry, and we have determined that partner is FOX Sports,” said PBA CEO and Commissioner Tom Clark. “We are particularly excited that the PBA Tour returns to broadcast television, where it started 56 years ago, with shows on FOX next year.”

A slate of high-profile names are launching a new football league, titled The Alliance of American Football, complete with a new TV deal on CBS Sports. Television and film producer Charlie Ebersol, Pro Football Hall of Famer Bill Polian, four-time All-Pro Jared Allen and two-time Super Bowl champions Justin Tuck and Troy Polamalu, announced the launch of the eight-team league. CBS will air Alliance matchups, beginning with the season opener and culminating with the championship game on the weekend of April 26-28, 2019, with a regular-season game airing each week exclusively on CBS Sports Network. Each team will sport 50-player rosters, with rules that include eliminating kickoffs, requiring two-point conversions, instituting a shorter play clock and more.
ESPN is bringing TV simulcasts of ESPN Radio’s weekday morning Golic and Wingo and mid-day’s The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz to ESPNEWS starting April 2, joining The Will Cain Show on the network. Golic and Wingo has been seen on ESPN2 since its launch in November and will continue from 6-10a, while The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz has aired on ESPNU since September 2015 and is seen 10a-1p.
The AP reports that MLB is finalizing a two-game series between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox at London’s Olympic Stadium on June 29-30 in 2019, marking the sport’s first regular-season games in Europe. The Red Sox have the option of having both games be Boston home games, MLB is playing regular-season games in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Monterrey, Mexico, this year.
The United Bid of Canada, Mexico, and the United States to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup listed its roster of 23 candidate host cities that will be included in the Bid Book, with no new stadium construction required to stage the event. Canada’s cities include Edmonton, Montreal, Toronto. Mexico would host in Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Monterrey. Meanwhile US cities would include: Atlanta. Baltimore, Boston, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York/New Jersey, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and DC.

MAVTV announced that NASCAR/ARCA veteran driver Mike Wallace will join the broadcast team to help call the action for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards on MAVTV in 2018. Coverage begins April 7 from Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tenn.  Wallace will serve as the telecast’s pit-road reporter, joining booth announcers Bob Dillner and Jim Tretow.

The agreement calls for the development of ongoing local competitions, integration of possible esport international franchises, development a Saudi national team, conducting a FIFA tournament in April, and creating a marquee Saudi international tournament in late 2018 with a multi-million dollar prize pool hosted by the Saudi National Team and broadcast live to a worldwide audience.
