BRANDS & ADVERTISING

Golden Globes disrupter – and Muppets Most Wanted bad guy – Ricky Gervais stars in new Audi ads as part of the car company’s "stay uncompromised" campaign touting the 2015 A3. Calling Gervais a "natural alignment" for the brand, Loren Angelo, Audi’s director of marketing, tells AdAge, "He has a point of view. And he sticks to it. That’s clearly what Audi does." Ad buys include the NCAA basketball tournament, the NBA playoffs and the spring finale of AMC‘s The Walking Dead. Agency: Venables Bell & Partners.

The television business seems to be changing by the day. What’s the biggest mistake someone can make on a sales call right now? "Thinking the point of the meeting is to present the deck," says Linda Ong, president and brand strategist for TruthCo., and panelist for the April 8 Cynopsis webinar, "Creating the Perfect Media Pitch: The New Secrets to Selling to Advertisers." "First and foremost, clients are looking for thought partners who can help make them successful. There is so much confusion in the industry right now, the FIRST thing you should do is ask the client about their brand and their business – not talk about yours. You should be gathering valuable information that you can use to construct a customized, efficient and impressive solution (either on the spot or better yet, give you a valid reason to follow-up). If you engage your client into such a collaborative, problem-solving conversation that you never pull out the deck, consider that a HUGE win!"

DISTRIBUTION & CARRIAGE

Hat Trick International sold factual entertainment series I Bought My Own Rainforest to SBS Australia, and Viasat for pan Scandinavian and pan Central and Eastern Europe broadcast.
