How can you design a “career roadmap” to lead you to your next great adventure? Mary Olson Menzel, President, MVP Executive Search and Development, Leadership and Career Coach, Recruiter, Speaker, Facilitator, has these words of advice. 

Step One: GO DEEP – Really get to know yourself – what are your hopes, dreams, desires? What makes you truly happy? Look at your life from a holistic perspective; financial, professional, personal and life passions. When are the times in your career and life when you have been at your best? What enabled you to be at your best at these times? What are all the possible directions you could take with your career now? Which of those really excites you and why? 

Step Two: DEFINE YOUR PERSONAL BRAND – What is it that makes you unique? What sets you apart from the rest? Why should an organization hire you over someone else with the exact same experience? Or, if you are transitioning in to a new area, how can your past career experiences be a benefit and set you apart from other candidates with a more ”traditional” background? And what is your elevator pitch? (30-90 second prepared statement that you can use when people ask “what do you do? or “what do you want to do?”)
Step Three: IGNITE YOUR PERSONAL BRAND IN THE MARKET – How does your resume look? Do you have all the correct key words in there to get noticed online? What is the strength of your social media profile? Your LinkedIn profile is key in addition to your resume, so it is absolutely essential that this is as strong as it can be. Ask yourself: Do I have an appropriate photo and a clear summary that reflects my personal and professional brand? Am I sharing relevant articles with my network? Which groups am I associated with? Am I relevant in my industry?

Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner, exec producers of HBO’s Girls, signed with CAA, ending their long association with UTA.
Broadcast Management Group appointed Dave Weiler as SVP of its broadcast consulting practice group. Weiler joins from Media Edge Consultants, acquired by BMG, where he was managing partner. Recent projects include launching an OTT channel for Flywheel Sports and CBS Sports Interactive.
Disney promoted James Pitaro to President of ESPN and Co-Chair, Disney Media Networks. He had served as Chairman of Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media since 2016.
Raycom Media named Chris Conroy as Vice President and General Manager of KFVS (CBS) and WQUW (CW) in Gape Girardeau, MO. He joins from KAIT (ABC), where he also served as Vice President and General Manager.

Peter H. Lori was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Univision Communications Inc. Lori, who had served as Executive Vice President, Finance, Chief Accounting Officer and Deputy Chief Financial Officer of UCI, succeeds Francisco J. Lopez-Balboa, who has opted to leave the company to pursue other opportunities.
CBS Corporation named John Arianas as Vice President, Social Impact Partnerships. He last served as Executive Vice President of Advertising & Brand Solutions at Pivot.
FOX News Channel upped Nancy Harmeyer to Vice President of Domestic Bureaus. President of News for the network, Harmeyer will continue as the Los Angeles bureau chief. In addition, Greg Headen was promoted from foreign desk manager to foreign desk director.
Heidi Schorn joined Alibi Entertainment as Director of Development. She was previously Director of Development at eOne.
Mob Scene hired Brett Abbey as Chief Financial Officer. He was previously Chief Financial Officer of mOcean.
