March Madness is getting bona fide on YouTube. NCAA Digital, managed by Turner Sports, launched the first-ever NCAA March Madness YouTube Channel ahead of the annual tournament. The new channel will offer fans real-time highlights and video recaps from all 67 games with addition content that includes press conferences, game previews and analysis, as well as daily news and notes from the tournament airing across TBS, CBS, TNT and truTV. The platform will also showcase sponsored pieces that include the Dunk of the Day presented by Oreo, Naismith Trophy presented by AT&T, Solve of the Day presented by UPS, and Starting Lineup presented by Reese’s.
“Our new partnership with YouTube gives college basketball fans more ways to discover and watch the plays and storylines that everyone will be talking about during March Madness, ” said Mark Johnson, vice president of business operations, Turner Sports. “Tapping into the power and reach of YouTube’s video platform opens up new opportunities for us to grow interest and consumption of March Madness.”
Speaking of March Madness, ESPN hits the post-season with the 2015 Championship Week Presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods with a record 112 exclusive women’s college basketball games on deck. Coverage tips off Wednesday with programming spanning ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ESPN3 and SEC Network +. ESPN itself will serve as the home to five conference title games the ACC, Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC on Sunday, March 8, as well as the American Women’s Championship on Monday, March 9. ESPN will also unveil a new animation package this year as well as new theme music with selections that include “Glitter & Gold” by Rebecca Ferguson and “Golden” by Parade of Lights.
Golf Channel is adding a new competition series to its slate, dubbed Altered Courses. The show will see 8 teams of two navigate re-imagined and extreme golf holes in excess of 700 yards, “traversing the natural obstacles and challenging terrain as fast as possible.” To capture the action, Golf Channel will utilize Sony Action cameras and aerial footage to track the teams’ progress on each challenge, providing rarely-seen golf course camera angles. Kristen Kenney hosts the inaugural season with sponsors that include Skechers GO GOLF as the official footwear provider, MusclePharm as the official nutritional supplement and Bushnell as the official range finder.
NBC Sports booked more talent for its debut of PBC on NBC on Saturday, adding two experts to the mix. Veteran boxing referee Steve Smoger and boxing historian Steve Farhood will both join the crew with Smoger sitting ringside to provide rules insight. Farhood, meanwhile, joins the PBC on NBC team as a ringside editorial consultant
Speaking of Premier Boxing Champions, Bounce TV is the latest network to get in the ring, inking a multi-year deal to carry live boxing events on the network. PBC The Next Round will run as a monthly series on the channel, with two hours of live boxing and debut in July. Bounce TV joins NBC Sports Group, CBS Sports and SPIKE TV as television partners for The Premier Boxing Champions series.
ESPN has entered The Basketball Tournament, the single-elimination, winner-take-all, open-application tournament launched last year. With opening rounds launching July 10-12 at regional sites. ESPNU will carry the opening game of the Super 17 live from Chicago as well as all four Quarterfinal games on Saturday July 25. Winners then travel to New York City for the semifinals on Saturday, August 1, carried live on ESPN with the Championships game also running on the channel on Aug. 2 at 3p.
The sports world just might see a presidential debate, with Sky and BBC pitching the four contenders for the FIFA presidency to take part in a live debate that would be televised, according to FOXSports.com. Football Association chairman Greg Dyke has offered to host it at Wembley. "We believe this will present an unprecedented opportunity for the candidates to set out their plans and communicate directly with fans from around the world,” Sky said in a statement. “We hope for a positive response from all four candidates."
ESPN Radio Los Angeles 710AM added a new morning show to the mix, debuting ESPNLA Morning Show yesterday. The new local morning drive program is hosted by Kelvin Washington and Travis Rodgers from 5-9a. ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike will now be heard in the Los Angeles market on KLAA 830 AM weekdays during those same hours. ESPNLA 710 will also introduce an evening recap show ESPNLA Rewind.

Are you ready for the SpongeBob SquarePants 400? Nickelodeon signed on as the entitlement sponsor of the May 9 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, which will now feature the famed kids’ moniker. The SpongeBob SquarePants 400 will be broadcasted on 7:30p on FOX Sports 1 and feature a weekend of Bikini Bottom-themed activities including the Nickelodoen Fun Zone. “The SpongeBob SquarePants 400 gives Nickelodeon the opportunity to expand its relationship with NASCAR, while working with a best-in-class track to give fans a unique, engaging and high-quality race experience that the whole family can enjoy,” said Pam Kaufman, Chief Marketing Officer and President of Consumer Products, Nickelodeon Group. “Nickelodeon has embarked on some great initiatives with NASCAR over the last 10 years, sponsoring and participating in marquee racing events that have resonated with motorsports fans across the country.”
Meanwhile, Comcast in on board to sponsor NASCAR’s Carl Edwards in four races this season, beginning this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The car will feature a Comcast Business paint scheme on the No. 19 Toyota with other races that include Bristol Motor Speedway next month, New Hampshire in September and Martinsville in November.
Continuing the theme, Honda inked a multi-year agreement to remain the title sponsor of the DAYTONA Supercross By Honda at Daytona International Speedway. In addition to title sponsorship of the race, Honda will continue to have display and hospitality rights during Daytona 200 Week. The 2015 DAYTONA Supercross By Honda runs on Saturday night.
Learfield Sports completed acquisition of controlling interest in ANC Sports Enterprises, LLC, one of the leading providers of video displays, in-venue sponsorship platforms, digital signage and other technology systems for sports venues, transportation hubs and retail facilities. “This is an exciting move for Learfield Sports,” said Greg Brown, Learfield President and CEO. “So often, we are in discussions with our collegiate partners about new stadium or arena technology needs and display capabilities and having this expertise in our family of services will be a huge asset.”
The PGA of America and Kohler Co. announced that a “very limited number of corporate hospitality options remain available for the 2015 PGA Championship.” The event takes place August 10-16 on the Straits Course at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wis. with this year marking the first time in history that all corporate hospitality options will be located on-course “The response to our official 2015 PGA Championship corporate hospitality offerings, including the new products and new locations, has been tremendous from both past and new partners and in fact, it led us to open expansion plans for both our Chalet and Champions Club products last year,” said 2015 PGA Championship Director Jason Mengel. “If any companies are interested in securing corporate hospitality for the Championship but haven’t committed with us yet, I encourage them to secure their place today.

NBC Sports unveiled the Rotoworld 2015 Fantasy Baseball Draft Guide at Rotoworld.com. The NBA named Christine Pantoya as the league’s new Senior Vice President, Mobile Strategy. Pantoya will be charged with expanding the NBA’s mobile strategy in the US and abroad, including the development of the league’s over-the-top and other mobile offerings. She joins from Verizon Communications, where she served as Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Development.
