03/19/20: NBC Sports is teaming with TVG to add horse racing to the schedule

NBC Sports is teaming up with TVG to bring more horse racing to screens beginning this weekend as NBCSN simulcasts TVG’s Trackside Live on Saturday and Sunday from 4-8p. Anchored by TVG host and NBC Sports reporter Britney Eurton, the show fans with live horse racing from various tracks across the country. The biggest race of the weekend – the $1 million Louisiana Derby from Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans – will air on NBCSN as previously scheduled on Saturday at 5 p and will be part of the Trackside Live coverage. NBCSN will also simulcast Trackside Live the following weekend – Friday, March 27 through Sunday, March 29 from 4-8p on all three days, including the Florida Derby on NBCSN on Saturday, March 28 at 6p – if horse races continue to be held.

PROGRAMMING

Major League Soccer is reportedly mulling a December MLS Cup final as the league looks to revamp its paused schedule. According to Yahoo Sports, the league is looking to still play all of its remaining scheduled games in the regular season and playoffs. Meanwhile, the United Soccer League has further postponed the USL Championship and USL League One seasons until May 10.

The NFL is now offering complimentary access to NFL Game Pass, offering fans a platform to relive NFL games and moments from seasons past and includes access to past regular and postseason NFL games, previous seasons of award-winning NFL Films series such as Hard Knocks and A Football Life, and exclusive NFL Game Pass Film Sessions with some of the league’s star players and coaches. In addition, NFL digital platforms will offer fans full game encores each day across NFL.com, the NFL app and NFL’s official YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, with the 2019-20 NBA season on hiatus, the NBA and Turner Sports are providing all fans with a free preview of NBA League Pass, the league’s premium subscription-based product, until April 22. The complimentary offering will provide fans with access to full length and condensed replays of all games from the 2019-20 season, as well as an expansive archive of classic games and content.

ESPN announced that its continued Major League Baseball coverage will include ESPN Senior MLB Insider and Sunday Night Baseball reporter Buster Olney continuing daily editions of his podcast, Baseball Tonight with Buster Olney, which will include special guests and will offer coverage of all of the latest baseball news and information. Next week, ESPN.com will present a five-part daily series, “Best ___ I Ever Saw.” All of ESPN’s baseball writers submitted their ideas for the best of that they’ve have seen in baseball: home runs, games, prospects, defensive plays and behind-the-scenes moments.

The ATP and WTA announced extended cancellations for tournaments in the Spring clay court swing. This includes the combined ATP/WTA tournaments in Madrid and Rome, along with the WTA events in Strasbourg and Rabat and ATP events in Munich, Estoril, Geneva and Lyon. The professional tennis season is now suspended through June 7, including the ATP Challenger Tour and ITF World Tennis Tour.

MSG Networks is filling the proverbial airwaves with a look back at some of the top moments from the ice and court and airing games from each of its teams this season, as well as some classic games dating back to the 80’s. Fans can tune in for games from the Rangers, Islanders and Devils this year, including Mika Zibanejad’s recent 5-goal game against the Capitals, Panarin’s 5-point game versus the Islanders, P.K. Subban’s game-winner from November and more.

Overseas, ELEVEN SPORTS Belgium secured live and exclusive rights to Belgian domestic football for the next five years. ELEVEN will bring fans in Belgium all the action from the Belgian First Division A, the First Division B, the women’s Super League, the Belgian Cup and the Belgian Super Cup from 2020/21 until 2024/25.

The entire event will be supporting the Feeding America COVID-19 Response Fund, which is helping local food banks during the pandemic.

Pennsylvania’s retail and online sportsbooks report more than $2 billion in wagers since the industry was launched, according to analysts from PlayPennsylvania. Pennsylvania’s sportsbooks produced $329.8 million in wagers, just short of the $348.4 million record set in January, according to official data released Wednesday. Pennsylvania has now collected $2.1 billion in online and retail wagers since the state’s industry was born in January 2019.

The individual clubs will be announcing more details surrounding this support effort in their local communities.”
