GOLF Channel’s opening round coverage on Thursday averaged 869,000 viewers to rank as the most-watched first round in the last 29 PGA TOUR events, up 34% vs. 2020.

Tomorrow will see Turner Sports and CBS Sports’ exclusive coverage of the 2021 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship tip off with the NCAA First Four on truTV and TBS at 5p beginning with Texas Southern/Mount St. Mary’s on truTV, while TBS opens tournament play with Drake/Wichita State at 6:27p. at 5 p.m. ET. First round game coverage then begins Friday with all games available live in their entirety across four national television networks – TBS, CBS, TNT and truTV – and via NCAA March Madness Live. CBS starts the day with Virginia Tech/Florida at 12:15p, with truTV offering Colgate/Arkansas at 12:45p. TBS enters the fray at 1:15p with Drexel/Illinois, and TNT begins its coverage at 1:45p with Utah St/Texas Tech.
On the women’s side, 64 teams square off in the NCAA women’s tournament starting Sunday, with this year’s No. 1 seeds — NC State, South Carolina, Stanford and UConn — headlining the field traveling to the San Antonio area for the first round and play running across ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU. ESPN starts the action with Central Michigan/Iowa at 9a, the same time as ESPNU’s coverage of Marquette/Virginia Tech. 10a sees ESPN2 serve up Wake Forest/Oklahoma State while ABC begins coverage at 11a with Middle Tennessee/Tennessee.
The newly retired Drew Brees didn’t stay unemployed for long, announcing that he would be joining NBC Sports as a studio analyst for Football Night in America and as a game analyst for its coverage of Notre Dame Football. Brees will also work on many of NBC Sports’ key events, including the Olympics and Super Bowl LVI. “We’re excited to have Drew join our team,” said Pete Bevacqua, Chairman, NBC Sports Group. “We know that Drew will apply the same work ethic and continuously positive attitude to everything he touches at NBC Sports and we know, as his new teammates, he’ll make us better.”
CBS reports that the Big Ten Championship Game delivered 3.678 million viewers to the network on Sunday. The hands the network with the top six most-watched CBB games of the season.
Keeping the theme, the Big Ten Network’s coverage of the 2021 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament presented by SoFi delivered record audiences, and became the most-watched men’s tournament in network history and included the most-watched men’s basketball game in network history. Across the entire tournament on BTN, the total audience grew by 14% to more than 5.2 million viewers and the average audience for each game grew by 15% to 528,220. Friday night’s game between Iowa and Wisconsin, which earned 938,784 viewers, the highest-rated game in network history.
Elsewhere in ratings, Telemundo Deportes’ exclusive presentation of Liga MX’s Super Clásico, simulcast on Telemundo and Universo, delivered 1.7 million total viewers and 969,000 adults 18-49 during the match window, according to Nielsen. The Chivas de Guadalajara vs. Águilas del América on Sunday become the most-watched Liga MX of the Clausura 2021 season to date, across all networks.

ESPN is rolling out coverage of collegiate gymnastics across ESPN networks, with the NCAA National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Championships making its broadcast debut on ABC in 2021. Major League Baseball and Citrix Systems announced a new multi-year, multi-dimensional partnership designed to boost MLB’s business operations and serving as the league’s Official Workspace and App Delivery Partner. Under the terms of the multi-year agreement, MLB will leverage Citrix digital workspace solutions, including Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and Citrix ADC. Free streaming platform Tubi announced its first-ever branded integration in NASCAR, kicking off its partnership with Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) and the No. 42 team, led by driver Ross Chastain, in Atlanta on March 21. Tubi will also make an appearance on the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro with former NASCAR Cup Series champion Kurt Busch, at Richmond Raceway on April 17. The partnership will feature Tubi as the primary partner on each car, in-car cameras and driver firesuits at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Richmond Raceway.
