Amy Adams and her manager Stacy O’Neil’s new production company, Bond Group Entertainment, inked a first look deal with HBO. Their first project, Poisonwood Bible, which is based on the Barbara Kingsolver novel, is being developed as a limited series. Kingsolver and Anya Epstein (The Affair, In Treatment) will serve as co-writers on the project. In addition, former Starz executive Kathleen Clifford has been tapped as Vice President of TV Development at Bond Group.
History is moving forward with Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation. The net says the six-part docuseries, slated for a May debut, will offer new evidence of the U.S. government’s secret program investigating the UFO phenomenon.  
Netflix and Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps (Stranger Things, Arrival) secured the rights to Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer Prize-winning bestseller All The Light We Cannot See with plans to develop it into a limited series, according to Deadline.   
In other Netflix news, the streamer greenlit Gods & Heroes from Charley and Vlas Parlapanides. The original anime series is set in the world of Greek mythology and features Jason O’Mara, Mamie Gummer and Chris Diamantopoulos in the voice cast.

Adult Swim and Crunchyroll teamed on a programming partnership and expanded distribution deal that makes Crunchyroll a content partner for Toonami, the anime programming block that airs Saturday nights on Adult Swim. The two companies will join forces on licensed content, co-productions and distribution opportunities.

Netflix isn’t concerned about studios muscling in on the global streaming space. Speaking at the INTV conference about the emerging challenge from new SVOD platforms run by major studios, Cindy Holland, Vice President Original Content at Netflix said, “There is plenty of room for everyone to be successful…. There’s a lot of opportunity for all the big entertainment companies that have existed for quite some time as well as the new entrants. Nothing has been decided yet. On-demand TV is truly in its early stages and there’s room for many companies to be successful.”
Ahead of March Madness, Dailymotion inked a new multiyear partnership with the NBA G League, the NBA’s official minor league, to host and stream video on demand content on all its owned and operated properties. In addition, the NBA G League will distribute content from over 1,300 games over the course of two seasons on Dailymotion.
Dragon’s Dogma landed its own Netflix anime series produced in partnership with sublimation, Inc. Dragon’s Dogma was first released by Capcom in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Cinedigm partnered with Comedy Dynamics, indie producer of stand-up comedy, features and TV shows, to launch and distribute their comedy channel branded Comedy Dynamics Network. Cinedigm Digital Networks will provide full digital distribution of the channel, including third-party platforms, a la carte licensing options, and a live linear channel in the first phase of launch.
“Project OAR” (as in Open Addressable Ready) is a new consortium with the goal of putting together a technology platform and media partners capable of delivering targeted advertising in linear and on-demand on smart TVs – by 2020. Count in AMC Networks, Disney Media Networks, NBCUniversal, Discovery, CBS, AT&T, Xander, Turner and Hearst Television. Vizio’s Inscape will develop OAR’s enabling technology. “TV programmers reach a massive and passionate audience, but have lacked the precision targeting of digital,” said Mike Dean, SVP of advanced advertising and automation at CBS. “Through OAR, CBS will combine relevance with our reach to deliver a better experience to our viewers and better ROI for our advertisers.”

Magnify Media, the UK-based distribution and entertainment rights-management specialist, licensed NRK’s hit game show Doctors vs Internet to broadcasters in Switzerland and Georgia. SRF in Switzerland and Imedi TV in Georgia ordered the format, taking the number of local iterations to four.
About Program Content signed global broadcast deals for Telefonica Studio’s Gigantes. The drama series was commissioned by Movistar+ in Spain in co-production with LAZONA Producciones. Israel public’s broadcaster, KAN, commissioned July August Productions, a Red Arrow Studios company, to producer a local version of international hit format Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds. The show, currently in production, sees ten senior residents of the Bait Bakfar care home brought together with ten 4-year-olds for six weeks. The series is set to premiere later this year.

Season-to-date, the series (3.8/16 Live+7) ranks as the # 1 new series and # 3 entertainment program, marking FOX’s first #1 unscripted program in seven years (since American Idol in 2011-2012).
Food Network’s Sunday night was up double digits versus year-ago, led by the 9p premiere of Buddy vs. Duff, which posted a 0.8 among P26-54, up +45% and ranked #5 in its timeslot. The show also had a 1.0 rating among W25-54, up +44% and ranked #3 among ad-supported cable.
Univision’s two-hour finale of Amar a Muerte on Monday reached 4.2 million Total Viewers 2+, that tuned in to all or part of the telecast. The drama averaged 2.0 million Total Viewers 2+, 957,000 A 18-49 and 366,000 A18-34, marking the program’s highest rated telecast during its full run and most watched 10p series finale on the network since La Piloto in 2017.
Judge Judy (7.8 Live+SD national Nielsen rating) topped all syndicated shows in the February sweeps by the widest margin ever. The talk show race was won by Dr. Phil (3.2) for the 22nd consecutive major sweep, easily topping the gabfests in February for the eighth year in a row, while garnering some 4.4 million daily viewers. Live with Kelly and Ryan (2.3) climbed into a tie for second place with Ellen DeGeneres (2.3), followed by Maury (1.5) and Steve Harvey’s Steve (1.4) matched its season high and has now grown 27% over the past three weeks.
