Enjoy the Super Bowl. As we prepare for the big game on Sunday, here are a few parting stats to play with. According to polling, research and strategic marketing firm Leger, 62% of US viewers plan to watch the big game, off-pace from 71% a year ago. The South is expected to lead viewership with 64% making TV plans, followed by the Northeast at 62%. Of those who plan to watch, more than a quarter are most interested in the commercials, and just under half plan to use social media during the game. More than twice as many are planning on doing so via Facebook rather than Twitter. Results have a margin of error of +/- 2.6% @ 90%, or +/- 3.1% @ 95% confidence level.

The league reportedly shut out TSN for rights to the 2016 event. “We were told the rights were being awarded to Rogers,” Phil King, President, CTV, Sports and Entertainment Programming told the Toronto Globe and Mail. “As far as we can tell, they [Rogers] seem to have a quasi right to match.”
ESPN announced that all 10 games of next season’s men’s college basketball Big 12/SEC Challenge Presented by Sonic will take place on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016. ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will combine to televise every game of the third annual event.
