Good morning. It’s Thursday, January 29, 2015, and this is your first early morning digital briefing.

Facebook reported $3.85 billion in revenue for its Q4 2014 earnings, up 49 percent year over year and clocking in with 1.39 billion average monthly active users worldwide. FB’s mobile advertising revenue accounted for 69 percent of the $3.59 billion in ad rev, a 53 percent increase from the same period a year ago. The social network’s mobile monthly average users hit 1.19 billion as of December, a 26 percent surge year over year.
 

 
NEW PROGRAMMING + DEALS

 
AT+T announced its first scripted series for Snapchat: SnapperHero. The series will tap top SnapChat, Vine, and YouTube talent to serve as the series’ Creative Directors. They are: Anna Akana (The Foster), Freddie Wong (Video Game High School), Harley Morenstein (Epic Meal Time), Jasmeet Singh (JusReign), Simone Shepherd (Hell Date), and Shaun McBride (Shonduras). The influencers’ followers will provide input on superhero identities, enemies, and costumes; a 12 episode series will roll out over four weeks, beginning sometime this year. Producer Billy Parks and UTA Digital Media Agent Kendall Ostrow, who both collaborated on AT+T’s @SummerBreak social media series, developed SnapperHero with Fullscreen and Astronauts Wanted. “In season two of @SummerBreak, we decided to experiment with Snapchat as a platform for driving engagement and fan interaction with the show,” AT+T Engagement Marketing Director Liz Nixon told Cynopsis. “We knew that our audience was moving to the platform, but we didn’t know what to expect as far as channel performance. We were blown away – we grew to 50,000 followers and drove eight million engagements throughout the summer. Our natural reaction was, ‘What else can we do on this platform?’”
 
Amazon signed a licensing agreement with Starz Digital Media, making Prime Instant Video the exclusive U.S. home for Emmy-nominated The White Queen. The ten-part miniseries is based on the historical novels by author Philippa Gregory, which take place during England’s “War of the Roses” period when three women were vying for the throne.
 
AOL debuted five episodes of its original Inspired. It’s co-produced by New Form Digital, the joint venture between Discovery and Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. Featuring celebrities speaking about defining moments in their lives, the first eps are available at on.aol.com, and spotlight Lisa Ling, Bode Miller, Doc Rivers and others.
 
StarMaker Interactive and Playlist Live are teaming up with YouTube talent Lia Marie Johnson, Alex G and Tessa Violet to host a competition for emerging talent from Jan. 23-Feb. 7. With the StarMaker app, fans can record covers of Lia, Alex and Tessa’s originals songs and compete for the best fan cover. On the final day of PlayList Live in Orlando (Feb. 6-8), three winners will score the grand prize to perform with the YouTubers at the main stage event.
 
Turner Broadcasting chose MarketShare, a marketing analytics software company, to create Turner Incite, Powered by Marketshare. The new tool will help advertisers plan and forecast for the 2015/16 Upfront by projecting sales lift for brands that advertise on Turner properties.

MOBILE GAMING + APPS
 

Rolling Stone and Google Play will bring 47 years of the magazine’s catalog of stories to the Newsstand app for iOS and Android devices available on Jan. 30. In addition to the archived articles, Rolling Stone will release breaking stories as part of the daily feed.
 
 

TECHNOLOGY
 

The Apple Watch will finally hit shelves in April. Apple originally announced the device in September; it’s expected to cost $349 with a 19-hour battery life. “My expectations are very high,” CEO Tim Cook said. “I’m using it every day and can’t live without it.”

EXEC MOVES

Univision hired Lincoln Lopez as Vice President and General Manager of Social Media. Most recently, Lopez was Vice President of Social and Digital Media at Turner Broadcasting.

Mediamath appointed Ari Buchalter and Michael Lamb to Co-President roles in order to lead the Platform and Commercial divisions. Buchalter was previously the company’s President, Technology and Lamb was President, Commercial.

PTA Networks added Betsy Sanner Ayala as the Head of Programming Development and Production, and Billy Fox as Head of Advertising Sales. Ayala was previously Executive Producer and Head of New Development for Moxie Pictures. Fox was Senior Sales Leader on Apple’s iAd.

Phosphene named Rebecca Dunn as Head of Operations and Strategy. Dunn joined Phosphene in 2012 as a Visual Effects Producer and Compositing Supervisor.

True North Inc. promoted Rehan Iqbal to Associate Media Director from his previous role as Media Supervisor. Garen Karnikian was promoted to Associate Analytics Director from Senior Analyst.

Nickelodeon promoted Amy Hyland as Executive Vice President, Nickelodeon Ad Sales, and Justin Nesci as Senior Vice President, Ad Sales Strategy and Technology Sales. Hyland was formerly the Executive President of Ad Sales Strategy and Planning, and Nesci was Senior Vice President of Nickelodeon Digital Sales.

DIGITAL SPOTLIGHT OF THE DAY

Netflix released the first teaser for its Wet Hot American Summer reboot yesterday, confirming the cast of the eight-episode series. Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, and Elizabeth Banks are all originals set to return to the cult classic after they first came together 14 years ago.
