Smithsonian Channel’s The Coronation, which premiered Sunday, January 14, was the highest-rated program (HH and P2+ viewers) in the channel’s history. The program celebrates the 65th anniversary of the historic ceremony as Queen Elizabeth II speaks about the event for the first time.
Last Sunday night’s episode of Universo’s Larrymania ranked as the series’ highest episode in the show’s six seasons, among A18-49, according to Nielsen, averaging 164,000 A18-49, and 122,000 A18-34.
Animal Planet’s North Woods Law on Sunday, January 14 at 9p delivered its strongest rated episode of the series since April 2017 among A25-54.

EXECUTIVE MOVES
Univision Communications Inc. promoted Michael S. Mueller to SVP of business development. Since joining UCI, Mueller has served as VP of business development for Univision Local Media. Before UCI, he held various roles at Conde Nast and Hachette Filipacchi Media.
Helen Jackson, the BBC Worldwide content chief, is exiting as the company merges with BBC Studios. Jackson, who’s been with BC Worldwide for 31 years, was responsible for acquiring stakes in British production companies Expectation Entertainment and Lookout Point, among others.
All Def Media hired Brooke Goldstein as co-president and COO, and promoted Chris Blackwell to co-president and chief digital officer. Scott Weintrob also was promoted, to executive creative director. Goldstein most recently was head of sales at ESP Properties, North America. The appointments are the first since company co-founder Russell Simmons exited amid sexual assault allegations.
Creative & digital agency We Are Royale hired Eric Zapakin as head of production. Zapakin joins Royale from Imaginary Forces, where he was a senior producer.
Research firm MarketCast hired Lee Doyle as EVP, global client strategy, and Jenny Matkovich as marketing director.
IN MEMORIAM
Bob Smith, the first openly gay comedian to appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, died at age 59 after a long struggle with ALS. Smith also was the first openly gay man to star in his own HBO Comedy half-hour special, in1994.
Dorothy Malone, film and TV actress who starred as matriarch Constance MacKenzie in the ‘60s series Peyton Place, has died at age 92 of natural causes. Her other TV credits include ABC’s The Greatest Show on Earth, several Peyton Place TV movies and 1976 miniseries Rich Man, Poor Man.
This Day in History: 1947 – KTLA, Channel 5, in Hollywood, CA, began operation as the first commercial TV station west of the Mississippi River.
