NEW PROGRAMMING + DEALS
 

Woody Allen will write and direct his first TV series for Amazon. The company signed off on a full season of the Untitled Woody Allen Project, a half-hour series to be made available on Prime instant Video next year. “I don’t know how I got into this,” Allen said. “I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that [Amazon VP] Roy Price will regret this.” Amazon has made deals with other film and TV vets in the past, such as Steven Soderbergh, Ridley Scott and Carlton Cuse.
 
Community
fans, rejoice: school’s back in session as of March 17. The premiere of the sixth season, picked up by Yahoo Screen after NBC cancelled it last year, will hit the service with two new episodes and release a new ep every subsequent Tuesday. Yahoo released a new cast video to promote the new season, which can be seen here. Any changes as the comedy hits the streaming platform? “The corset loosens a little bit,” creator Dan Harmon told reporters at TCA. “It’s a little freer.”
 
Ownzones
signed Food Network star Aarti Sequeira to a new series, 10 Minute Meals with Aarti Sequeira. The deal includes ten episodes that embody her “American favorites with Indian soul.” Sequeira is currently the judge on FN’s Guy’s Grocery Games and was season six champ of The Next Food Network Star.
 
For the first time in MTV’s The Challenge: Battle of the Exes II twenty-six seasons, the show is introducing a companion web series competition. Fans will take to social platforms to agitate for the couple they hope to get back in the game through the digital Battle of The Ex-iled. After every new episode of Battle of the Exes II on Tuesdays at 11p ET on MTV, fans can log on to the show’s homepage to watch the new fight for contestants to stay in the game.
 
Netflix
will drop the majority of its BBC programming due to an expiring contract on Jan. 31. It’s possible the streaming service will sign a new deal before that occurs, but if not, subscribers can say ta-ta to Doctor Who, Luther, Black Adder, Fawlty Towers, Coupling and Top Gear.

Digital entertainment video network CelebTV announced that Rachelle McCray will join the network as host of its series and network TV specials. She’s the Founder and Executive Producer of Luxe Entertainment.

Vubiquity added Ross Levinsohn to its Board of Directors. He is best known for his roles at Yahoo, where he was Interim CEO and Head of Global Media as well as being Senior Vice President for Fox Interactive Media.

Fullscreen named Rozanna Tesler Fried as Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs and Suchir Batra as Director of Business and Legal Affairs. Fried joins FS from Constantin Film Development, where she was Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs. Batra was formerly part of the Greenberg Traurig entertainment practice group.

DIGITAL SPOTLIGHT OF THE DAY

ESPN sold its first programmatic TV ad for SportsCenter to Turbo Tax over the weekend. The Wall Street Journal reports TT ran a 30-second ad purchased via a web auction, making it one of the first programmatically sold spots for a TV network. The ad did not run during a commercial break, but instead was announced by the show’s anchor and played on a giant video screen on the set. ESPN created its own set of tools to let advertisers bid on SportsCenter ads each day, but did not comment on the price the advertiser paid. Check it out at www.cynopsis.com/#video.
