ABC ordered a pilot for The Hypnotist’s Love Story, based on the book by Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty. Heather Graham will star and exec-produce the drama from writer Katie Wech (Jane the Virgin), ABC Studios and Mandeville Television.

CBS All Access is proceeding with a Star Trek spin-off series starring Star Trek: Discoverys Michelle Yeoh as Philippa Georgiou. “Being a part of this universe and this character specifically has been such a joy for me to play,” said Yeoh. “I can’t wait to see where it all goes – certainly I believe it will go ‘where no WOMAN has ever gone before!’”
 
HGTV picked up six episodes of Unspouse My House, starring “breakup expert” Orlando Soria helping newly single clients overhaul their lonely homes. Series is slated to debut in late 2019.

Biography: The Trump Dynasty premieres on A&E Monday, February 25, and will air over three consecutive nights. Docu-series uses firsthand accounts and never-before-seen archival footage to look at the life and heritage of the 45th President of the United States.
 
Tom Hanks will be Conan OBrien’s first guest when the host returns with his revamped 30-minute show on Tuesday, January 22, at 11p on TBS
 
Vanilla Ice Goes Amish makes its network premiere on Discovery Family Monday, February 25, at 9p, with the pop star/home renovator ditching high-tech power tools to learn the art of handcraftsmanship.
 
History hit Vikings may be coming to a close, but it’s not the last TV viewers will see of Norsemen. Science Channels America’s Lost Vikings, following the trail of Viking explorers in North America, premieres Sunday, February 10, at 10p.
 
Netflixs After Life, a six-parter from Ricky Gervais, premieres Friday, March 8. Series focuses on a man, played by Gervais, who reevaluates his life after the death of his wife.

The NFL confirmed that Maroon 5 will play the Super Bowl halftime show on CBS February 3 along with rappers Travis Scott and Big Boi. Maroon 5 follows Justin Timberlake, who performed last year, and Lady Gaga in 2017.

WE tv is airing the first live TV event for Growing Up Hip Hop, with series cast members answering viewers’ questions via phone and social media while watching the episode in real time. Investment in virtual and augmented reality technology is on the decline, reports the LA Times, with funding for VR and AR start-ups dropping 46% in 2018, to $809.9 million, versus 2017. “The hardware needs to come to the point where people en masse will purchase it,” Kobie Fuller, a partner with venture capital firm Upfront Ventures, told the paper.
 
Hallmark Movies Now is now available on Comcast’s Xfinity X1 and Cox’s Contour platforms. The family-friendly SVOD service can be added for $5.99/month.

Fighting Fyre with Fyre: Shortly after Netflix announced that its documentary about 2017’s disastrous Fyre Festival, Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Was, would drop Friday, January 18, Hulu released its own film about the festival, Fyre Fraud, with no advance notice. Both projects focus on the festival sold as a luxury event on a private island to attendees who arrived to find tents and sandwiches but no stars.

MGM Worldwide Television Distribution is launching two new syndicated strips at NATPE. Personal Injury Court looks at litigants alleging personal harm, while The Drama features a cast offering advice both helpful and humorous to viewers who submit questions via social media. Personal Injury Court hails from David Armour (Paternity Court and Couples Court); Barry Poznick is also an executive producer on the show, produced by 501 East Entertainment and distributed by Orion TV Productions, a subsidiary of MGM. The Drama is produced by MGM Television and distributed by MGM. 
 
Global Content Hub by Zee is taking a range of programs to NATPE, including drama Deceptive Measures, an English remake of Indian hit Pavitra Rishta, and documentary The Life of Earth From Space, featuring CGI views from the International Space Station of Earth’s landscapes.
 
 
ADVERTISING & BRANDS

The average rate for a 30-second ad in the Super Bowl game increased by 96% during the past decade, reaching $5.24 million in 2018, according to Kantar Media analyses. During that same period, average primetime ad rates fell by 12%. In 2018, marketers spent $408 million for in-game messages; add in pre-and post-game and the total investment hits $482 million. The 2017 Super Bowl holds the records for in-game ad spending ($419 million) and total ad spending ($534 million) due to an overtime period.

Big Brother is coming back to Poland and Finland. Endemol Shine Poland has been commissioned by TVN to produce a new series, slated to debut in spring 2019 on TVN7. The reality show was last on air in Poland 10 years ago.
 
Speaking of, Endemol Shine Group boasts it ranked number one in K7 Media’s Top 100 TravelingTV Formats 2018 list, with 24% of the top 100 formats, as well as four in the top 10 (Deal or No Deal, Minute to Win It, MasterChef and The Money Drop).
 
UKs ITV ordered a series based on novel Belgravia, by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, reports Deadline. Carnival Films is producing.

CWs The Critics Choice Awards on Sunday was even versus 2018 with an 0.3 rating among A18-49 and rose to 1.51 million in total viewers.

 
Univision’s Mira Quién Baila All Stars on Sunday reached 4.5 million total viewers 2+ and delivered more total viewers 2+ (+9% to 2.0 million), A18-49 (+16% to 802,000) and A18-34 (+3% to 289,000) than last week’s season premiere.
