01/11/19: Oracle Takes The Name For The Giants Home

CynopsisSports
Good morning. It’s Friday January 11, 2019 and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.

The San Francisco Giants announced that they have changed their stadium name from AT&T Park to Oracle Park as part of a new a 20-year agreement with tech giant Oracle. Giants President & CEO Larry Baer said it is “very much in line with other recent naming-rights deals for top-tier facilities,” which could mean $300-350 million, up from the reported $100 million the Giants received over 23 years from their naming-rights marketing deal with Pacific Bell. The move gives Oracle a naming rights partner in the Bay Area, one they will lose when the Warriors move from Oracle Arena to the Chase Center next fall.

In all, 14 cameras creating virtual graphic elements that are completely manufactured will blend in to the real environment of the broadcast.

In another U.S. first, CBS will use multiple 8K cameras with a highly-constructed engineering solution to provide viewers with more dramatic close-up views of the action from the end zone, including possible game changing plays along the goal lines and end lines. Also for the first time, CBS will deploy 16 cameras with 4K capabilities, as well as nine Sony 4800 camera systems strategically placed around the stadium. Over 25 cameras will flank each endzone including HD cameras with super slo-motion capabilities, six 4K cameras, three goal post super slo-motion cameras shooting the backlines and 14 cameras embedded in pylons per each side of the field.  A total of 28 pylon cameras will be a part of the 50-plus camera feeds from the endzones.
