The National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) today announced that they have each agreed to terms to continue with The Upper Deck Company as the exclusive licensed manufacturer of NHL Trading Cards. The 2018-19 NHL season marks the 29th straight year of Upper Deck hockey, a partnership that dates back to the 1990-91 season. Upper Deck became the first exclusive trading card partner of the NHL and NHLPA from 2004 through 2009-10 and has held similar rights since the 2014-15 season.
Oscar Mayer has renewed with Roush Fenway Racing and will be the primary partner on Ryan Newman’s No. 6 Ford for multiple races in ’19, starting with the Daytona 500. Financial terms were not revealed for the renewal.
Major League Lacrosse named Kinduct the official health and performance software platform for the league. Kinduct will provide all MLL athletes and teams with access to the Kinduct platform and the suite of cutting-edge athlete performance technologies and resources.

Two MLS soccer veteran imports, Zlatan Ibrahimović (67.9 million followers) and Wayne Rooney were second and third with Steph Curry and Floyd Mayweather Jr. placing fourth and fifth. However, several of 2018’s top athletes were up-and-comers like JuJu Smith-Schuster and Kyle Kuzma, who posted the two highest growth rates and sit near the top in several other categories. The athlete rate with the highest engagement rate per post? The Washington Capitals Alex Ovechkin, with a rate of 6.4 % per post.
FloSports announced partnerships with Atlantic Hockey and Hockey East to bring live and on-demand coverage of college hockey to FloHockey.tv. FloHockey will air games through 2022, streaming more than 200 home and away games and spotlighting schools such as Air Force, American International College, Army, Bentley, Canisius, Holy Cross, Mercyhurst, Niagara, Robert Morris, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Sacred Heart. FloHockey will also broadcast the 2018-19 season playoffs for Hockey East, serving as the exclusive distribution partner.

North American esports organization Renegades has entered a multi-year partnership with clothing manufacturer Champion. Champion will design and create limited edition apparel collections throughout the course of the deal.

Major League Soccer announced the winners of year-end awards that recognize individuals and clubs for outstanding contributions off the playing field. The club and executive award winners were highlighted by Atlanta United President Darren Eales being recognized as the Doug Hamilton Executive of the Year for the second consecutive year. Atlanta United led all clubs with seven total awards on the evening followed by the Los Angeles Football Club winning four in its debut season. Sporting Kansas City also took home a notable three awards including Peter Vermes being recognized with the newly minted Sporting Executive of the Year.
