PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT
Believe it. Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Is making another comeback, 100 years after Robert L. Ripley launched the brand. Travel Channel ordered a reboot of the series with Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Burn Notice) as host and EP. Look for the revival to showcase “the most astonishing, real and one-of-a-kind stories.” The series, currently in production at Ripley Warehouse in Orlando, is slated to debut in summer 2019.
NBC greenlit Secret Society, a female-focused comedy from Barry producer Emily Heller, Girlboss creator Kay Cannon and Laverne McKinnon’s K&L Productions and Universal TV. Project is written by Heller and centers on Beth, a struggling reporter tired of feeling invisible in her small town, who recruits other women to help take over a dying branch of an all-male secret society.
NEW & RETURNING SERIES
Season five of A&E’s 60 Days In bows Thursday, January 3, at 10p. “There are a lot of ‘firsts’ this season,” says Greg Henry, Lucky 8 Co-President and the series’ Executive Producer. “We’re at an all-new facility – Pinal County, our first jail in the West – and for the first time in series history, our participants actually meet each other before going in and are each given specific missions by the sheriff. Also, because it’s our fifth season and our third jail, many of them have certain expectations and strategies upon entering, which adds an exciting new layer to the experience.”
The Pearson family drama continues when This Is Us returns after its mid-season break on Tuesday, January 15, at 9p on NBC.
