Good morning. It’s Wednesday, September 19, 2012, and this is your first early morning briefing.

Nick at Nite announces the premiere its new scripted family sit-com starring Scott Baio, See Dad Run, on Sunday, October 14, at 8p EST. A sneak peek of the pilot episode premieres on Saturday, October 6, at 9p EST. Baio plays a successful TV dad whose series has ended and when his wife (Alanna Ubach, Legally Blonde) returns to soap opera stardom, he assumes the role of stay at home dad to their three kids. The series is executive produced by Baio and creators/executive producers Tina Albanese and Patrick Labyorteaux with executive producers Nat Bernstein and Mitchel Katlin as showrunners. Eric Bischoff and Jason Hervey also serve as executive producers from Bischoff Hervey Entertainment (BHE).  In support of the premiere, Nick at Nite (NickatNite.com) will have a show site for series with trailers, photo galleries, quizzes and message boards.

NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

A brand new Lego Star Wars special is coming to Cartoon Network on Wednesday, September 26 at 8p EST. The action begins just moments after the Death Star explodes and Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca and the Rebel Alliance have no time to rest and continue their fight against the Dark Side.  Luke and Vader’s quests will continue to intertwine and their destiny’s meet in this new special. The first special, Lego Star Wars: The Padawan Menace aired on Cartoon Network last summer, was the #1 telecast of the week on all TV with boys 6-11.

TELETOON Canada announces the world premiere of Season 5 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Friday, September 28 at 830p EST. TELETOON is offering its Canadian fans a Star Wars: The Clone Wars refresher course, by airing the last seven episodes of Season 4 leading up to the premiere. Starting Monday, September 24, viewers can catch nightly Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes at 830p EST From Wednesday, September 26 to Friday, September 28. Season 5 picks up where the last left off and in the new season several characters may succumb to the Dark Side.

LICENSING

PBS Kids has launched The Cat In the Hat Knows A Lot About That: Math Safari, a series of six online, mobile and whiteboard games based on the series. The games all focus on math skills for preschool and early elementary learners and can be found for free at the PBS Kids Lab (PBSKIDS.org/lab). The site also includes tools to support parents and teachers for using the games at home, on the go or in the classroom. The games feature characters from the series and they have lost pages of their animal safari book. Bee Hive and Seek, Meerkat Jubilee, Do You See My Seahorse, Deep Sea Follow Me, whiteboard game: Welcome to Beaver City and the parent and teacher tool: The Cat in the Hat Can Map This and That. All will be available throughout the roll out of new episodes of the series.

GameMill Entertainment, independent video games publisher, announced a side-scrolling action adventure video game based on the Sony Pictures Animation’s movie of the same name. Hotel Transylvania is available exclusively on Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS handheld systems and has shipped to retailers. Game features include: a variety of locations, puzzles, lots of battles and fun ways to interact with the movie characters. The game is rated E10+. The animated comedy is set to hit theaters on September 28, 2012.

Disney Publishing Worldwide announces two new Finding Nemo themed apps.  This comes on the heels of the 3D re-release of the feature as well as the upcoming Blu-Ray DVD release. Finding Nemo: Storybook Deluxe and Finding Nemo: Interactive Comic both feature stories based on the movie, puzzles and games, advanced graphics, interactive elements, music and sound effects and reading challenges.

MARKETING

In the UK, Turner CN Enterprises (TCNE) announced details of the retail plan for several major toy stores to promote the new line of Ben 10: Omniverse toys from Bandai. The toy range launches this month in the run up to the UK premiere of Ben 10: Omniverse on Cartoon Network on Saturday, October, 6 at 10a. The range features a playset and action figures with touch screen capabilities. UK retail partners include Toys “R” Us, The Entertainer, Smyths Toys Superstores, Argos, Hamley’s and Toymaster all of which have specialty programs in-store set for the line’s launch.

MORE KIDS STUFF

Behr Entertainment announced a new pre-school series that it will be launching at MIPCOM. Ribert & Robert’s WonderWorld (78 x 30) mixes animation and live action in an effort to spark kids’ imagination. Ribert, a little toad and along with his human best friend Robert, explore WonderWorld where they meet various residents who quiz the duo on everyday goings on.

In additional MIPCOM news, Spanish production and distribution company, Imira Entertainment, is bringing a new CGI animated family feature to MIPCOM. The Wish Fish is produced by Baleuko, Talape and Image Venture. Imira has acquired worldwide TV rights (with the exception of Spain, Portugal, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam). The Wish Fish (1 x 75) tells the story of Opil, who doesn’t eat fish, only junk food.  His mother serves him a special dish – the Wish Fish – and that’s when the adventures kick into high gear when odd things begin to happen and Opil and his sea friends must save the planet.
