Good morning. It’s Wednesday, October 4, 2006, and this is your first early morning briefing.
And so it begins – everybody join in! We’re doing The Fall Shuffle:
CBS: My Old Christine has rec’d a full season pick up with the order of the back 9 episodes, for a full season of 22 eps. And Monday night 8-9pm sitcoms will flip-flop – How I Met Your Mother will air at 8p, and The Class will air at 830p, effective on Monday.
ABC: Knights of Prosperity has been put on hold for the time being. The show was to premiere on October 17, but there is no new launch date at the moment. Knights was scheduled to air on Wednesday nights at 9p, and with that 30m now open, Dancing with the Stars will continue to air a full 90m, giving freshman sitcom Help Me Help You a big boost.
Tonight’s Premieres:
ABC: Lost at 9p, The Nine at 10p
Comedy Central: South Park at 10p, Freak Show at 1030p
The 90-minute finale of VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club 4 on October 1 at 9p weighed in with a 1.3 A18-49 rating, making it the highest rated episode of the season. The program also delivered 1.9 million total viewers.
Telemundo will debut Marina, a new original production set in Acapulco, on October 16 at 830p. The story of love and betrayal will land in its regular 8p time slot as of October 25. Starring Mauricio Ochmann and Sandra Echeverria, the storyline follows a wild and fun-loving girl who makes a living driving a tourist boat in Acapulco. Her world collapses and changes when her mother dies unexpectedly and her uncle, multi-millionaire Don Guillermo Alarcon, takes her in.
Comedy Central has renewed Reno 911 for a fifth season. The show is currently mid-stream in its fourth season with seven more episodes to air, all scheduled to play in April.
VH1 will delivery radio host Wendy Williams to TV audiences in its new half-hour series, Wendy Williams Experience on October 20 at 1130p. Just like her daily show from New York’s 107.5 WBLS, Wendy will interview celebrities and relate gossip, as well as talk with celebrities at red carpet events. Wendy Williams Experience is produced by Greg Wacks.
Saban Entertainment Group (SEG), a division of Saban Capital Group Inc. has launched a new virtual studio venture which will create, develop and market family entertainment properties. SEG will give executives access to financial and creative resources, to create a virtual studio employing mostly freelancers for each project. SEG will also identify brands and original intellectual properties for distribution across a variety of platforms. The first project, Hollywood Star Dogs, will be revealed at MIPCOM on October 9. The 26 half-hour TV-ready episodes will showcase live-action talking dogs portraying classic fairy tales.
Starting October 16, Nielsen Monitor-Plus will release data on eight additional national cable networks: Biography, The Science Channel, Discovery Times, Fuse, G4, History International, Military and Style. Monitor-Plus will then be able to provide competitive advertising information segmented into units, expenditures and GRPs for a total of 66 national cable networks.
Speaking of ratings, here are the numbers in the evening broadcast news race for the week of September 25-29: NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams led among total viewers with 8.17 million; ABC World News with Charles Gibson was #2 with 7.56 million viewers; and CBS Evening News with Katie Couric delivered 7.49 million viewers. Among the A25-54, NBC and CBS tied with a 2.1 rating; ABC earned a 2.0.
Perhaps you’ve heard about the re-matching of Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz in a film from Focus Features called A Little Game Without Consequences. Well, you may have to wait a little while longer – the two stars and the film’s director all took an early exit yesterday, just a couple of weeks before production was set to begin. According to the studio, their departure was a result of “creative differences.”
Do you care who the father of Nicole Smith’s baby is? Me neither.
This month’s installment of Cyn opsis: Multicultural Edition – Network In Focus, with the spotlight trained on RHN (Real Hip-Hop Network) came out this morning. If you’re not a subscriber to that edition, you’ll find today’s edition available online here, or go to www.cynopsis.com .

The third annual awards show will be hosted by Ice T starting at 9p on VH1.
