AMC launched its third season of The Walking Dead web series on AMC.com and its YouTube channel. Titled The Oath, the season consists of three installments and is produced and directed by WD’s Greg Nicotero. Each episode is seven to ten minutes each.
YouTube’s channel VICE is bringing one of its most successful shows, Fresh Off The Boat, back for a second season. Chef Eddie Huang hosts the show as he travels the world to discover unique meals. The first season’s 15 episodes brought in three million views, and has since racked up 1.4 million Facebook likes and almost a million Google+ followers.
The Follow Channel on YouTube gives sports fans the chance to step into the lives of athletes for a month, starting with NFL Seattle Seahawks star player Richard Sherman. The network is a collaboration between Break Media and Tupelo Honey Raycom that grew out of the web series Follow Jimmer, which focused on BYU’s Jimmer Fredette as he competed for a spot in the NBA. Miami Heat’s Chris Bosh is the next athlete to be followed by the show.
Entertainment network Scream Factory is offering a month of Halloween themed original programming on its YouTube channel in a campaign called 31 Days of Screams. It will also include social media contests leading up to the holiday that will give fans a chance to win scary movie classics. Slasher, zombie and vampire lovers are all welcome to enter.

Not only are in-app ads being perceived by consumers as disruptive, they’re hardly making a mark, according to a new Forrester study. Half of U.S. smartphone users ignored the ads completely; 43 percent found them disruptive and only 28 percent described the ads as relevant.
In other words: The in-app ads need some work, but the study also accounted for 40 percent recall of in-app spots that advertise another relevant app, app upgrade or brand and product within the app.

YouTube announced it will host its first music awards show in November, streamed live under the direction of Spike Jonze. Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire and Eminem are few of the big headliners so far, but the ceremony is really meant to feature musicians who made a name first on YouTube. Nominees for the six awards categories will be announced later this month, and winners will be chosen by global YouTube users’ votes. YouTube released a commercial for the show yesterday, which features the host Jason Schwartzman. Watch the commercial at www.cynopsis.com.
