Fox International Channel‘s BabyTV Channel launches its new short-form CGI animated series Billy Bam Bam (5-minute episodes). Targeted to babies and toddlers, Billy Bam Bam is designed to encourage young kids to use their imagination and be creative in their daily play, while also modeling early social skills including sharing, cooperation, taking turns and the importance of friendship. BabyTV is also featuring a Billy Bam Bam page on its website where parents can watch the show on their mobile and the BabyTV Online Player. The page also offers activities including coloring images and wallpapers. Families can watch the new short-form series on line (www.babytv.com/billy-bambam.aspx). BabyTV airs in 100+ countries via 600+ affiliate platforms, and in 20 languages, as well as providing its content via VOD, mobile and broadband.

LICENSING

LeapFrog Enterprises and Cartoon Network Enterprises, the global licensing/merchandising arm of Cartoon Network, are partnering to bring two of network’s animated series, The Amazing World of Gumball and The Powerpuff Girls, to LeapFrog’s learning platforms. Episodes of The Amazing World of Gumball are now available for purchase in the LeapFrog App Center. Episodes of Cartoon Network’s classic series The Powerpuff Girls will be available in early 2013.

American Greetings Properties (AGP) and international licensing agent Exim enter into a new Strawberry Shortcake licensing deal with Great Moments Publishing for Mexico. Strawberry Shortcake is known in the region as Rosita Fresita. The new partnership will see Great Moments launch a line of Rosita Fresita coloring and activity books, board books, storybooks, and other formats throughout the territory in Q4 2012.

MARKETING

Genius Brands International, developer/creator of music/entertainment/education-based products and characters, enters into a promotion with Kimberly-Clark‘s Huggies. Under the deal, Baby Genius-branded toys, DVDs, CDs and sippy cups will be some of the premiums offered to moms who are enrolled in the Huggies Enjoy the Ride Rewards program, which allows moms to redeems points for products purchases.

MORE KIDS STUFF

Teletoon hosts the Canadian premiere of the new animated series DreamWorks Dragons: Riders of Berk with back-to-back episodes on Saturday, November 3 from 8p. Leading into the premiere the channel will air DreamWorks Animation’s movie How To Train Your Dragon, the backdrop for the new series, at 6p. Teletoon (Canada) will air DreamWorks Dragons: Riders of Berk regularly on Thursdays at 6:30p beginning Saturday, November 3, 2012. Produced by DreamWorks Animation Television, Art Brown and Douglas Sloan are show runners on DreamWorks Dragons: Riders of Berk. The series is co-executive produced by Sandra Rabins. Anthony Bell serves as supervising director.

Vortexx on The CW (www.myvortexx.tv) will celebrate Halloween this Saturday, October 27, 7a-12n with several scary-themed programs, including the one-hour special Tiny Toons’ Night Ghoulery (8:30a), as well as holiday-themed episodes of Sonic X (8a) and WWE Saturday Morning Slam (10a). The Saturday morning line-up will feature regular episodes of its other series such as Justice League Unlimited (9:30a), Dragonball Z Kai (10:30a), Yu-Gi-Oh! (11a) and Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal (11:30a). Vortexx is an affiliate of Saban Brands.

CBeebies (UK) orders a fourth season of the preschool series Grandpa In My Pocket (52×12) from producer Adastra Creatives. The new season sees celebrated English actor James Bolam returning as Grandpa. Grandpa In My Pocket is executive produced by Mellie Buse and Jan Page for Adastra Creative and Michael Towner for CBeebies.

DADA Company, an independent publisher of kid-targeted apps, releases its Off to Bed! book app for Android and iPad. Based on the book of the same name, illustrated by Mariam Ben-Arab, the Off to Bed! app was initially released in Spain in 2011. Off to Bed! in an interactive app in which kids help the character get ready for bed, while also getting themselves ready for bed too.

Call for Submissions:  Cynopsis is producing a Holiday Programming Guide, which comes out November 27 and will be sent to all Cynopsis and Cynopsis Kids subscribers.  If your network has holiday-themed programming airing December 1-31, 2012, please send your listings to Gwen Billings, Editor at [email protected] no later than Friday, November 16. Please include the following information: type of program (i.e. series, special, documentary, movie or holiday-themed episode), title, dates and times of all airings (please indicate when the show first premieres and when subsequent encores will air). A confirmation email will be sent following each submission from Gwen (if you don’t receive a confirmation email, please resubmit).

There is still time left to nominate passionate executives and professionals in the kid media industry for the Cynopsis Kids People Awards  the late deadline is Thursday, October 18, 2012.
