BBC Worldwide Channels will launch a collection of BBC SD channels, including CBeebies, BBC Knowledge, BBC Entertainment and BBC Lifestyle, on Cyfrowy Polsat, Poland’s largest DTH platform and the fourth largest in Europe, later this month (actual date TBA). The deal will see the portfolio of BBC channels available on all major DTH, cable and IPTV providers across Poland to a growing number of Polish households. The new channels joining Cyfrowy Polsat will also join BBC HD, which has been available on the platform in the Extra HD package since February 2012. Starting January 1, 2013, Polsat Media will be responsible for ad sales for the BBC channels on the platform. Preschool viewers in Poland will be able to watch series such as Baby Jake and Zingzillas on CBeebies. The BBC thematic channels are also available in Poland via n and Cyfra + platforms in addition to UPC Polska, Vectra and other cable operators.
BabyTV (www.babytv.com), a 24-hour commercial free channel, inks its first carriage deal in Norway with Canal Digital Cable. BabyTV launches this week in Norway as part of Canal Digital Cable’s Optional Basic Package. The launch marks BabyTV’s first carriage in Norway. In addition to Canal Digital Cable, BabyTV is also available in other areas of the Nordic region via cable platform SHEF (Finland) and Siminn (Iceland). BabyTV, which is part of Fox International Channels, is available in 100+ countries via 600+ affiliate platforms, and in 18 languages, as well as providing its content via VOD, mobile and broadband offerings.

Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP) completes new regional licensing partnerships around the world for Nickelodeon‘s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in various categories such as apparel, publishing, furnishings and gifts. New licensees include: Target (Australia), Fobot (Israel), Flunch (France), Great Moments Publishing (across Latin America), Hermes Trismegisto (Argentina), Fakini Malhos (Brazil), Ficus Trading (Singapore), Edge Home Products (Canada), Starwave (Philippines), and Small Planet and Gourmandise (Japan).
Additionally, NVCP finalizes a new licensee for the MTV brand under a European deal with music accessories licensee Hellatron. The two-year deal includes MTV branded headsets, earphones and portable speakers for brick and mortar and online retailers across Italy, France, Greece, Malta and Cyprus.
MORE KIDS STUFF
ABC will air two animated holiday specials, Disney Prep & Landing and Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice, back-to-back on Sunday, December 9 at 8p and 8:30p. Produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, John Lasseter executive produced both specials. Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice will encore on Saturday, December 22, at 8p, and Prep & Landing on Monday, December 24, at 8p. The voice cast of Disney Prep & Landing includes Dave Foley (The Kids in the Hall, NewsRadio), Sarah Chalke (Maneater, Scrubs) and Derek Richardson (Men in Trees, Hostel, Dumb and Dumberer). In addition to Foley, Chalke and Richardson, who reprise their roles, the cast of Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice features Rob Riggle (The Daily Show, American Dad!) and Chris Parnell (Suburgatory, 30 Rock).

EXECUTIVE MOVES
Coolabi appoints Valerie Fry to the newly created positions of Director of Sales. Fry will be responsible for the commercial efforts of Coolabi’s key brands and portfolio of properties including Poppy Cat, Purple Ronnie and Scarlett & Crimson. She will report to CEO Jeremy Banks. Most recently, Fry was Commercial Director at Chapman Entertainment. Prior to that she served as Sr. Commercial Manager at Celador, overseeing brands such as Who Wants to be a Millionaire? And You Are What You Eat, and as VP/Licensing for Gullane Entertainment handling international development of Thomas the Tank Engine.
Andrew Ames is named Senior Producer on the tween/family aimed adventure/travel series Born to Explore, which is hosted by Richard Wiese and airs as in the US as part of Litton’s Weekend Adventures on Saturday mornings on most ABC stations. A 30-year veteran, Ames most recently served as a Producer on the series. Prior to that he was VP/Global Production at Sesame Street. Ames previously produced and directed on projects at Reading Rainbow, History and Good Morning America.
Jill Sanford is named VP/Animation Development, Nickelodeon Group. Sanford will be responsible for development and research of show ideas and overseeing scripts, creative, legal, casting and staffing for pilots. She will assist in overseeing the comedy shorts program and partner with Nick’s short form development team to identify and guide new animated properties. Sanford will report to Jenna Boyd, SVP/Animation Development, Nickelodeon Group. Prior to joining Nickelodeon, Sanford toiled for nine years at Disney, most recently as the Director/Original Series for Disney Television Animation. She also served as the lead current series executive for Disney Channel’s series Phineas and Ferb, Fish Hooks and other projects in development. Previously, Sanford worked in both development and current series for live-action and animated series for Disney Channel. She also held positions at Fox Sports Net and commercial production company, Hungry Man.
