Cynopsis: Kids!
05/24/06
Good morning. It’s Wednesday, May 24, 2006 and this is your first early morning Kids! briefing.
Shop Studios Network has launched two streaming content driven websites, Toon.TV and Drama.TV that are housed under its Shopstudios.TV banner. With plans to add new content weekly, Toon.TV debuts with episodes of the animated series Popeye and Mel-O-Toon cartoons. Drama.TV is more for grown-ups, initially offering classic movies including A Star Is Born (1937 version) and The Perils of Pauline, as well as the TV series Bonanza. The websites/channels are all commercial free and do not require users to sign-up or subscribe. Shopstudios.TV has already bowed two Webisode.TV and AllGoodNews.TV, and is currently developing Foodreview.TV that will feature restaurant reviews, recipes, and new products. The plan for ShopStudios.TV is to create a virtual shopping mall of sorts. Shop Studios Network is a film/video/design production company founded by industry veterans Jacques Rosas and Eric Steding in 1997.
Nike and Apple have joined together to introduce a new line of Nike+iPod products designed to be used while you are working out. The first product under the partnership is the Nike+iPod Sport Kit, a wireless system that allows “Nike+ footwear to talk to your iPod nano” for use while running or walking, which means you need both the kit and the footwear. Together the kit and footwear will provide users with information about things such as time, distance, calories burned and pace that can be stored. Expected to be available at retail within the next 60 days, the kit includes an in-shoe sensor and a receiver that attaches to iPod. A new Nike Sport Music section on the iTunes Music Store and a new nikeplus.com personal service site support the Nike+iPod.
NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT
Teri Hatcher will star in Laika Entertainment stop-motion animated feature film, Coraline, opposite Dakota Fanning who plays the title character. Focus Features holds the worldwide distribution rights Coraline.
Sorpresa! is sponsoring Monchi Bonche, a live action production that plans to visit 20+ summer camps and kids throughout Puerto Rico next month. Hosted by the Sorpresa! network’s Emanuel, the show is designed to be educational and entertaining and will feature songs, magic, costumes and interactive sets centering on camping, wildlife and the environment. Puerto Rican kid’s edutainment company, Magic Productions, will produce the stage production.

Answer to Yesterday’s trivia question: What cartoon has a super hero with a secret identity, a humble and lovable shoe shine boy? UNDERDOG Kudos to: Russ Camlet-NBC News/NY; Katharine E. Heintz-Knowles/Falmouth ME; Brad Stern-Long Island Children’s Museum; Tom Boyd-WGN TV/Chicago; David Korduner-DGA/LA
Today’s Trivia Question: Who am I? I was born in Kentucky. My first foray into the entertainment field was as part of a band in the late 1960s which produced one so-called hit. When the band didn’t produce much after our hit, I was asked to be a game show host, taking over for Edd Byrnes who shot the pilot game episode. Thereafter, I moved to a relationship game for several years, and was succeeded by Pat Bullard. In the late 1990’s, I stepped in where Brad Sherwood left off to host another game show for two years. I am currently still on the air, and still hosting yet another game show after succeeding Ralph Andrews. Who am I? ( click here with your answer and be sure to include your name, company, city and time zone. Unofficial rules: Only the second four correct answers from each time zone will be mentioned; and once you’ve been mentioned in any of the Cynopsis editions, you can’t be mentioned again that calendar week.)
