Disney Publishing Worldwide is making its digital foray with the release this week of the Disney Junior magazine for iPad and iPad Mini. The company’s first-ever digital magazine includes family-friendly interactive content from properties such as Sofia the First and Jake and the Never Land Pirates, and enhanced content from the print edition of Disney Junior magazine including coloring, game and puzzle activities. Digital subscriptions cost $9.99 for 12 issues; $1.99 for a single issue.

With a strong fan base for its RL Stine’s The Haunting Hour and Goosebumps, plus upcoming series Spooksville, The Hub is cornering the safe-spooky market in late October with its inaugural Hub Halloween Bash, a live family event that celebrates Halloween in a television special produced by Bob Bain Productions, the team behind of Fox’s Teen Choice Awards and Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards. The Bash will include the first-ever nationwide costume competition, musical performances, and celebrity presenters and judges. It will take place at Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, Calif., and be aired on The Hub.
DIGITAL UPDATE
Cupcake Digital continues to build its library of new digital offerings based around classic children’s characters. The company is teaming with AG Properties to develop a series of mobile appisodes based on American Greetings’ Strawberry Shortcake series that currently airs on The Hub. The Strawberry Shortcake apps will be available in the iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and Nook Apps stores.

NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT
Kyle Massey (Fish Hooks) tells CynKids he’s gearing up to produce a new show in Las Vegas. “I can’t tell you what it’s about yet,” he teases. “It’s in the early pre-production stages, but it’s a TV show that will captivate audiences. It’ll probably come out in summer 2014.”
Calum Worthy (Austin & Ally) has a new program in the works for Disney, a live sketch show slated for summer he will both star in and produce, he tells CynKids. “I’m inspired by Saturday Night Live, Zach Galifianakis, and Live Funny Or Die,” he says. “I’m on a break with Austin & Ally so I have a little time right now.”
INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
MGA Entertainment’s animated Lalaloopsy will make its debut on Corus Entertainment’s Canadian preschool net Treehouse on Saturday, May 4, at 8 a.m. The launch follows the series’ successful U.S. debut on Nickelodeon… CBeebies will launch animated series Peter Rabbit in May, following success with the Peter Rabbit Christmas special last year.
Warner Bros. Creative Talent is upping its investment in the U.K. with the opening of its new Studios Leavesden and increased programming across television, movies and gaming. The company is also investing in future British creative talent by launching in September a dozen new higher education scholarships plus educational initiatives and apprenticeships.
MTV Thailand is heading to more than 10 million homes in the region following a strategic alliance between Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Asia, local content provider appleTool and MCOT. The latter will also air a Nickelodeon-branded block on its Modernine channel.

RADIO DISNEY MUSIC AWARDS REDUX
Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and One Direction were among the winners at the Radio Disney Music Awards Saturday at the Nokia Theater L.A. LIVE. Winners were voted on by kid and tween fans. The night included performances by Gomez, Cher Lloyd, Cody Simpson and others. Disney Channel will air a special RDMA weekend May 10-12, showcasing performances and winner highlights nightly at 8 p.m. In addition to the music awards, five kids from across the country received the “Heroes For Change” Award in recognition of their efforts to make a difference in their communities. Attendees at the RDMA’s shared updates with Cynopsis Kids! Here are some highlights:
– Aaron Landon is gearing up for the second season of hit series Crash & Bernstein. “My character, Pesto, is like Fonzie from Happy Days,” he says. “I’m really excited that we’re doing another season. I love my job!” (Ayyy!)
– Siblings Chloe and Halle Bailey, who won season five of Next Best Thing and served as trophy girls for the RDMA’s, shared that they’ll be singing their new song “Unstoppable” on an upcoming episode of Austin & Ally.
– Cameron Boyce (Jessie) is doing a pilot and more episodes of Jake And The Never Land Pirates. What can we expect from the latter? “A lot of explosions,” he reveals. “Also, hopefully more of the same because that’s doing really well.”
– Roshon Fagen (Shake It Up!), a former Dancing With The Stars contender, gave advice for current competitor Zendaya, his co-star on Shake It Up! “I told her to make sure she blows her nose before she goes out on stage to dance,” he says. “Those HD cameras can pick something up if you spin too fast!”
