  • The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (52 episodes) – a new Tween 9-14-targeted series produced by Marvel Animation for Disney XD and DisneyXD.com that will premiere fall 2010.  The series stars Marvel heroes Iron Man, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Giant Man and Wasp, who together form the Avengers.  The series will be supported by a 20-part “micro-series” that will explore the back-story of each character and will rollout this fall followed by the series.  After its US debut the series will then makes its ay around the world.

NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Martin Lawrence‘s Big Momma is headed back to the big screen in a third family targeted Big Momma’s House movie (currently untitled), per Variety.  Financed by Regency, the movie will be distributed by Fox.  In addition to Lawrence, who reprises his role as FBI agent Malcolm Turner, the movie will star Brandon T. Jackson (Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightening Thief, Tooth Fairy, Tropic Thunder), as his 17-year-old nephew forced to go undercover with his uncle in a girls performing arts school after he witnesses a murder.  Set to begin production in Atlanta next month, the movie is being directed by John Whitesell (Big Momma’s House 2) from a Matthew Fogel script.  Randi Mayem Singer (Tooth Fairy, Mrs. Doubtfire) worked on a later version of the script.  Also returning is producer David T. Friendly (the first two Big Momma’s House movies, Little Miss Sunshine).  Big Momma’s House and Big Momma’s House 2 were released in 200 and 2006 respectively.

Warner Bros.’ is changing the name of Zack Snyder’s animated feature film Guardians of Ga’Hoole to Legend of the Guardians, per Heat Vision.  While many are not surprised to hear of the change believing the title is hard to say/pronounce, the movie is based on Kathryn Lasky’s popular young adult book series, which includes 15 books.  The Warner Bros., Village Roadshow and Animal Logic movie is still set for release in the US on September 24, 2010 and features a voiceover cast including Sam Neil, Jim Sturgess, Geoffrey Rush, Helen Mirren, Abbie Cornish and Hugo Weaving among many others.

Answer to Yesterday’s Trivia:  What animated character’s favorite song is Camptown Races?  FOGHORN LEGHORN . . . I say, I say FOGHORN LEGHORN Kudos to:  Monica Lenti-MTV Networks/NY; Steven Stetzer-Rotter Group Adv/Huntington; Kevin Morrison-The Fred Rogers Company/Pittsburgh; Kathy May-Fisher Price/E. Aurora; Katrina Cicala-Prairie Home Prods/St. Paul; Squirrel Rippley-Dark Horse Media/Tucson; Dino DeMarco-ABC Networks/Burbank; Dana Jackson/LA; Chip Beaman-Soundelux Design Music Group/Hollywood; Frank Meschkuleit-Invisible Inc/Mississauga Ontario; Stephen S. Kelley-SSK Comm/Toronto

Today’s Trivia Question:  Who wrote this school essay?  “The most interesting character I have ever known is my father. He does not have an interesting job, he just works hard and takes care of all of us. He never shot things in Africa or not saved anybody that was drowning, but that’s all right with me, because when I’m sick he brings me ice cream and when I tell him things or asks things he always listens to me. And he would use up a whole Saturday to make junk with me in the garage. He may not be interesting to you or someone else, because he’s not your father, just mine.”   (Email [email protected] with your answer and be sure to include your name, company, city and time zone. Unofficial rules: Only the second four correct answers from each time zone will be mentioned; and once you’ve been mentioned in any of the Cynopsis editions, you can’t be mentioned again that calendar week.)
