Good morning. It’s Wednesday, March 11, 2009, and this is your first early morning briefing. Tonight’s Premieres: CNN’s Saturday night talk show D.L. Hughley Breaks the News will end later this month after only being on the air five months, reports The New York Times. The show, taped in front of a studio audience in New York, averaged 750,000 viewers. CNN explained the show’s abrupt ending by saying comedian Hughley wants to be closer to his family in California and will remain as a contributor for the cable news network based in Los Angeles. ~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY: For years American Idol‘s producers participated in one of the most successful, if rudimentary, mobile interactive applications in the U.S. as millions of AT&T subscribers paid extra fees to text in their votes. (FremantleMedia has also used the platform as a marketing tool this year to remind users of the return of the show, sending out mobile ads to some 2 million AT&T subs.) Finally there’s something a little sexier – Seattle-based Zumboi has launched an officially-sanctioned $1.99 American Idol app for the iPhone. It features a variety of content and functionality including exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes clips, a “buzz” section with blogs, news feeds and other updates and a module providing bios and photos of show participants. But go figure – there’s no way to cast votes from the app. Full edition: CYN DIGITAL. CYNOPSIS KIDS – TODAY’S TOP STORY: With the goal expanding its global business efforts, Marvel Entertainment has formed an International Advisory Board to help explore new opportunities overseas for Marvel and its key character brands, especially focusing on India and China initially. The Advisory Board is chaired by James F. Halpin, a longtime Marvel director. Simon Philips, President/Worldwide Consumer Products will serve as the primary company liaison to the Advisory Board. Additionally, the Advisory Board is currently comprised of Peter Yip, Exec. Vice Chairman and CEO, CDC Corporation, and Bollywood film producer, Manmohan Shetty, former chairman, Adlabs Films Limited. Yip and Shetty represent China and India, respectively on the Board. Marvel is in the process of filling two additional Advisory Board positions. Full edition: CYN KIDS. ~ RATINGS ~
