Cynopsis: Kids!
06/30/10
Good morning. It’s Wednesday, June 30, 2010, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.
Nickelodeon and the National Football League team up in a production deal to create the new animated short-form series, Rush Zone: Guardians of the Core (22 episodes each 2-5 minutes long) for Nicktoons. Based on the NFL Rush Zone ( www.nflrznflrush.com ), the kid-targeted online role-play game and virtual world, the series revolves around Ishmael, an average 10-year-old, and his new found powers that is charged with protecting the positive life force that is split into pieces, which are in all the NFL stadiums, from the evildoer Sudden Death, and also features all 32 NFL teams and the voices of NFL players and coaches such as Eli Manning (quarterback NY Giants) and Sean Payton (coach – New Orleans Saints). The series will air weekly to coincide with the 2010 NFL season (September-February) and will culminate with a 1-hour movie special that will debut Saturday, February 5, the day before Super Bowl XLV. Rush Zone: Guardians of the Core will also be available on Nicktoons.com and kid-aimed website NFLRush.com ( www.nflrush.com ) following its premiere on Nicktoons. Additionally, the series is being produced in HD so that it can be played on Jumbotrons in NFL stadiums.
NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT
Martin Scorsese has begun production at London’s Shepperton Studios on his live-action 3D feature film Hugo Cabret. Based on Brian Selznick’s creative book The Invention of Hugo Cabret (Scholastic Press), the movie stars Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, Asa Butterfield and Chloe Moretz, also appearing in the movie are Jude Law, Ray Winstone, Christopher Lee, Helen McCrory, Frances de la Tour, and Richard Griffiths. Featuring a screenplay by John Logan (screenplays – Gladiator, Sweeney Todd, Rango, and the Broadway show Red), Hugo Cabret is produced by Scorsese, GK Films’ Graham King and Tim Headington, and Johnny Depp and his Infinitum Nihil. Executive producers on the film are Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Charles Newirth and Christi Dembrowski. Sony Pictures is scheduled to release the movie in North America in December 2011.
Warner Bros. Pictures taps directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, developing 21 Jump Street movie) to write and direct its mixed live-action and animated Lego movie, per Heat Vision. No word yet on the storyline for the action-adventure Lego film, which is produced by Dan Lin and Roy Lee, with Lego’s Jill Wilfert executive producing.
