Good morning. It’s Wednesday, June 25, 2008, and this is your first early morning briefing. The Democratic National Convention Committee made Comcast Corporation the Convention’s official cable television and VOD provider. Comcast will provide complete Spanish-language coverage of the Democratic Convention from the Pepsi Center in Denver from August 25-28 via online streaming at DemConvention.com. This is the first time a national political convention has been simulcast in Spanish and made available to a worldwide audience. Additionally, Comcast will offer speech highlights and Spanish-language content from each night through its national VOD service to its more than 16 million Comcast digital cable subscribers. The VOD content will also be available for distribution on other cable systems across the U.S. Tonight’s Premieres: Tonight’s Finale:

Beginning soon after the July 4th holiday, Food Network will introduce the first of six new series this summer:
CBS ordered six more episodes of Million Dollar Password hosted by Regis Philbin. Airing on Sundays at 8p, the game show so far has averaged 9.46 million viewers, a 2.0/6 among A18-49 and a 2.6/8 with A25-54. FremantleMedia North America Inc. produces. FX will pay approximately $11 million for the exclusive cable network-window rights to air the Sony film You Don’t Mess With the Zohan starring Adam Sandler, reported Variety. FX’s window opens in 2010 following the exclusive pay-TV run on Starz. Sony may also try to sell one or two runs of Zohan to a broadcast network within the license terms of the cable contract. Discovery Communications and Blockbuster Inc. formed a partnership where nonfiction series and programs from Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, TLC, Discovery Kids and The Military Channel will be sold in more than 2,500 participating Blockbuster stores nationwide. More than three dozen titles in total will be offered such as Discovery Channel’s Man vs. Wild and Dirty Jobs; Animal Planet’s Meerkat Manor; TLC’s Best of Little People Big World; The Military Channel’s Wings and Battlefield Diaries; and other specials like Discovery Channel’s Shark Week and Planet Earth. Some Blockbuster stores will also have dedicated Discovery-branded displays and trailers promoting the shows will air on its in-store television network. Broadcast Evening News Ratings Wrap-Up: The final results for the week of June 16, 2008: Starting July 15, TLC is offering viewers a wedding block as season two of Say Yes to the Dress produced by Half Yard Productions opens at 8p followed by the series debut of Rock the Reception at 830p. In each episode of Rock the Reception, married choreography team Napoleon and Tabitha D’Umo work with two different couples as they rehearse a first dance routine for the wedding reception. Also premiering on July 15 will be MTV’s latest reality competition series From G’s to Gents at 10p. Fonzworth Bentley will mentor and life-coach the young male contestants as they participate in various challenges to drop their bad boy images and make changes that will alter their lives. The winner will receive $100,000 to start their new life. Telemundo announced plans to debut a new live two-hour show, Levantate in the morning day part. Produced by Telemundo’s WKAQ/Puerto Rico, the show will be a combination of talk with entertainment news, current events and viewer interactivity woven in. Levantate will premiere after Telemundo finishes covering the 2008 Olympic Games. Spike TV’s live finale of The Ultimate Fighting Championship last Saturday (9p) punched in a 1.9 rating with M18-49 and a 2.3 rating among M18-34. Raycom Media is selling WTVR/Richmond to Sinclair Broadcast Group for $85 million, according to TVNewsday. Sinclair already owns the FOX affiliate in Richmond, WRLH. Since the FCC prohibits the single ownership of two top-rated TV stations in a market, Sinclair will spin-off WRLH to Carma Broadcasting. Both deals are expected to close this third quarter and are pending FCC approval. Fred Powers, 49, News Reporter at WGCL/Atlanta, the CBS affiliate owned by Meredith Broadcasting, died Monday after a long battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held today at 1p at Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church in Atlanta. ~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~
