~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~
The open-ended series finale of The Sopranos on HBO Sunday night (9p) captured 11.9 million viewers, close to 50% more than the episode that aired the week prior. The big response for The Sopranos did not translate to the premiere of John from Cincinnati immediately afterwards (1005p) as the series opener averaged almost 3.4 million viewers, a 71% drop from the previous hour.
The CW has moved up the finale of Hidden Palms by two weeks, now scheduled for Wednesday, July 4. To do that, the network will air the show back to back for each of the preceding two weeks. The encore show will also come off the Sunday schedule, beginning with this week, and replace it with repeats of 7th Heaven on Sundays at 8p.
Nielsen Monitor-Plus, a service of The Nielsen Company, has released first quarter 2007 advertising spending results. According to the report, ad spending is down on average -0.6% over the same period last year. Some media categories continued with an upsurge: Internet gained 31.9%, as well as Spot TV Markets 101-210 +4.1%; Spanish-Language TV +4.0%; National Cable TV +2.5%; and Spot Radio +1.4%. Other categories that experienced declines in first quarter include: Network Radio -2.2%; Spot TV Top 100 Markets -3.7%; Syndicated TV -4.5%; and Network TV was down by -8.5%.
ABC Family’s second season premiere of Kyle XY (Monday at 8p) brought in 400,000 viewers in the network’s sweet spot – A18-34. That is a 22% increase over the season #1 average. In other demos, Kyle XY delivered 801,000 A18-49 viewers; 548,000 W18-49 viewers; and 2.2 million total viewers.
Jeff Corwin will bring his adventurous spirit to the Travel Channel in the new eight-episode series Into Alaska with Jeff Corwin. Premiering July 10 at 9p, the series will explore the last great frontier in America giving tourists great tips on how to see this state on their own. The series is produced by Pioneer Productions.
Network Evening News Update: ABC’s World News with Charles Gibson has retained the top spot among total viewers, households and A25-54 for seven straight weeks. For the week of June 4, 2007, here is the official ranking:
ABC: 7.71 million total viewers; 1.9/8 A25-54
NBC: 7.43 million total viewers; 1.8/8 A25-54

Retirement Living TV airs on DIRECTV’s Channel 364 and regionally via Comcast.
BBC America has purchased the first 14 episodes of the British TV franchise Top Gear which will debut on the network this fall. ~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~
Donald Trump is teaming up with Fox with a new reality project in development called Lady or a Tramp where party girls sent to charm school and then evaluated on their progress, per Variety. The program will be produced by RDF USA and Trump Prods. If this sounds slightly familiar, you probably saw the casting notice for it here in Cynopsis just a couple of weeks ago:
Casting Call: Casting for a new network reality competition series is looking for younger women who are 18-30, love to party and full of attitude. The premise of the show is to take these rude and crude party girls, and with proper etiquette training turn them into Ladies. If this describes you or someone you know, send an email with name, age, contact numbers, a detailed description of yourself or the person you are nominating and why they would be great for the show and a photo to Brenda Della Casa at [email protected].
