Chomp, Chomp, Chomp… Disney XD is granted the US TV rights to the new 3D animated action/comedy series Pac-Man – The Adventure Begins (26×22) from Namco Bandai Games, Arad Productions and 41 Entertainment (41e). Disney XD plans to premiere the series in fall 2013. Based on Namco Bandai Games’ iconic Pac-Man brand, the series is created in stereoscopic 3D and executive produced by Avi Arad (Spider-Man/Sony Pictures, Iron Man/Paramount, Hulk/Universal and Fantastic Four and X-Men/Fox) and Rick Ungar (Biker Mice from Mars/New World, X-Men Evolution/Marvel and Legend of the Dragon/BKN).
UK-based Metrodome Group puts its subsidiary Target Entertainment, an international distributor of programming including kid-targeted series such as Fifi and the Flowertots and Roary the Racing Car, Punky, among others, into administration. The company explained that, “Metrodome can no longer continue to provide support to its loss making subsidiary Target,” and that Metrodome’s board “believes there is little prospect of Target returning to profitability in the near future.” BDO has been appointed as Administrators of Target effective immediately. Metrodome acquired Target in August 2010 for USD $1.3 million and pledged to invest USD $4+ million in the company. In December 2011, Metrodome issued as a financial warning in relation to Target, and more recently as reportedly in discussions to sell Target. Metrodome Group’s other trading divisions, Metrodome Distribution and Hollywood Classic, are unaffected and continue to trade as normal.
