~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

SCI FI Channel’s new original 13-episode series Sanctuary begins production this month with a debut set for this fall. The series, about bizarre creatures living among us that are only seen by a few, was originally a hi-def web series.  The one-hour drama uses live-action actors shot mostly against virtual sets and is produced by Stage 3 Media, in collaboration with the network.

TNT ordered 13 episodes of the new drama series Truth in Advertising from Warner Horizon Television, which will premiere next year. The series stars Eric McCormack and Tom Cavanagh as two hot-shot advertising executives whose friendship and work relationship is in jeopardy when one is promoted over the other. Monica Potter, Griffin Dunne, Sarah Clarke, Mike Damus and Geoffrey Arend also star.

MY Entertainment Company LLC announced plans to increase production of original content to nearly double this year. One project is the new Extreme Ghost Adventures, an eight-episode one-hour series for the Travel Channel. A team of ghost hunters seek out the most haunted, evil locations in America.

Another new scripted series for SoapNet has been picked up – 10 episodes of MVP: The Secret Lives of Hockey Wives (working title) produced by Toronto-based Screen Door.  The story revolves around the wives of the Canadian Mustangs hockey team, reports THR.  The series is scheduled to launch on June 19 at 11p.

CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY
:   How’s this for some free promotion: the Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet held an invite-only hearing about virtual worlds yesterday which was simultaneously broadcast in Linden Labs’ Second Life, the leading virtual community with about 6 million registered users. The subcommittee, led by Net Neutrality advocate Ed Markey, wanted to explore some of the issues involved in virtual worlds such as, Can they be used to launder money? or Are the safe for children? So they figured, why not meet as avatars virtually? Rep. Markey also made headlines last December when he sent his chiseled avatar to attend a United Nations conference on global warming in Bali. But hey – at least it’s a way to save on jet fuel.  Full edition: CYN DIGITAL. (Or to listen to the Cynopsis Digital Podcast click here or subscribe to it at iTunes here .)
