Lots of smartphone users share their device with their kids to allow them to play games or listen to music and a certain sector of parents have really embraced mobile apps for their kids, according to a new NPD Group survey of over 1,000 parents and kids. A majority of devices have fewer than 20 apps downloaded on them for children, but some 10% of users reported having more than 60. Music downloads were the most popular, followed by games and videos. Some 82% of apps downloaded for children were free of charge, but those who have purchased an app for their kids say they’d be willing to spend almost twice as much, with the amount increasing with the age of the child.
