What will you be doing on Thanksgiving night? Toys “R” Us is banking on many of us emerging from our turkey stupor to go shopping, as the toy retailer unveils plans for the first time ever to open its stores nationwide Thanksgiving night, Thursday, November 24, at 9p. Beginning Thanksgiving night and running through Saturday, the store will offer a range of discount deals, doorbusters, and free gifts-with-purchase. Consumers can get a sneak preview at this year’s Toys “R” Us Thanksgiving weekend circular (28 pages) at www.facebook.comtoysrus. Toys “R” Us is not the only retailer to have this idea, also planning to open Thanksgiving night are Wal-Mart at 10p and Target at 12a (which means workers would have to be in-store earlier) though Target employees are balking at the plan petitioning the company to open on Black Friday at 5a. If you are looking for me that night … I have reserved a place on our friends Ellie/Jeff’s sofa where my family and I will be dining as usual. The forklift doesn’t arrive until much later to remove us.
