Bravo has partnered with music streaming service Spotify to promote the channel’s November show premieres, the companies announced yesterday. Spotify will build playlists for the current season of shows like The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills or Thicker Than Water, and will update them whenever a new episode premieres. Playlists will be embedded on a show’s site page, and both will link to songs playing in a current episode in tweets as it airs.

Forbes announced that it will be licensing its content managing platform to news publisher ALM. “We needed an easy-to-use, proven CMS that could support hundreds to thousands of outside contributors, and we found that in Forbes’ Falcon platform,” ALM Chief Digital Officer Jeff Litvack told Cynopsis.”Because it’s built by a media company, the system has the extra features that only someone in publishing truly understands the need for and value of.” The software – which took Forbes.com monthly visitors from 12 to 26 million in three years – includes social, SEO and reporting metric tools.

Tech and web news outlet Mashable is teaming up with Collective Digital Studios, known for YouTube stars Freddie Wong and Annoying Orange, to co-produce web video projects starting in 2014. The two companies will create three or four video ventures, with Collective assisting in distribution and ad sales.
In other words: The deal is Mashable’s first major leap into the YouTube universe, in hopes of finding a new audience beyond its 13 million social media followers.


VH1 live streamed the making of its You Oughta Know in Concert yesterday on VH1.com and its new app. The live stream will give fans a chance to watch full performances from musicians like Lorde or The Lumineers as well as behind-the-scenes footage. The You Oughta Know Live in Concert airs this Thursday at 9 p.m.

Yahoo and Starcom announced a new partnership to create original web video and advertising content. Adweek reports Yahoo’s viewership data will be combined with Starcom’s brand audience stats to produce original content and personalized ad campaigns. Yahoo is already known for using its own viewership data to come up with the likes of its hit show, Who Knew? Starcom is bringing clients such as Allstate, Kraft, Kellogg’s and Hallmark to the table.

Source: OpenSlate’s primary metric, the SlateScore, values a channel on its ability to attract, engage and influence an audience. The SlateScore works on a scale of 1-1000 with higher being better and the typical average around 300.

Broadband service company Sandvine released a new report showing that YouTube and Netflix account for the most web traffic in the U.S. Netflix clocks in at 28.18 percent, while YouTube sits at 16.78 percent. Other video streaming sites like Hulu and Amazon were not even close: Amazon is at 1.48 percent, Hulu is at 1.15 percent.

The London-based programmatic exchange platform, The Exchange Lab, announced its expansion into the U.S. with offices in New York City and San Francisco. The company also named Mark Charkin as its new Chief Revenue Officer. Charkin was the former Vice President of Advertising for creators of the game Candy Crush, King.

Media and entertainment industry executive search firm Sucherman Consulting Group has hired Dave Cassaro as Senior Consultant. Most recently, Cassaro was President, Cable Advertising sales for NBC Universal Entertainment.
