Cynopsis: Kids!
05/01/12

Good morning. It’s Tuesday, May 1, 2012, and this your first early morning briefing.

Filming has begun on CBBC‘s (UK) Wizards Vs Aliens (12×13), a new action-adventure series created by Russell T Davies and Phil Ford (The Sarah Jane Adventures, Doctor Who). Produced by BBC Cymru Wales in association with FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME), Wizards Vs Aliens will premiere on CBBC this fall 2012. The series is in production at the BBC’s Roath Lock Studios in Cardiff and on location around the area. Aliens Vs Wizards revolves around a regular 16-year-old, Tom Clarke, who lives with his dad and grandmother in an ordinary house on an average street  and yet there is something different about him. Tom and his family are wizards. When a group of evil aliens arrives on Earth looking to acquire magic, all wizards are in trouble. Tom and his science-minded friend Benny work together to stop the aliens. Wizards Vs Aliens stars newcomers Scott Haran as Tom Clarke and Percelle Ascott as Benny Sherwood, the series also features Annette Badland (Doctor Who, The Sparticles Mystery) Michael Higgs (Eastenders) Jefferson Hall (Doctors, Emma) and Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones). Don Gilet (Eastenders, Doctor Who) and Nina Sosanya (Teachers, Love Actually) make guest appearances as Benny’s parents.

Secret World is executive produced by Gurdip Bhangoo, with Hugh Lawton serving as the series producer.
  • Hoopla (10×60) CBBC legends Dick and Dom return – this time they’re the ringmasters of their own circus, packed with a big top, sideshow oddities, games, and their unique style of entertainment, and of course celebrity guests. Hoopla is executive produced by Annette Williams for CBBC, with Steve Ryde producing the series.
  • Superhumans (10×28) the series features extreme enthusiast and explorer Tim Fizthigham as he tracks down real life Superhumans and tests himself against them, on his mission to become the ultimate Superhuman. Each episode features the story of a amazing person and finds Tim learning the how the human body copes in extreme situations. Louise Corbett executive produces.

Also from CBBC Scotland, the episodes will air in fall 2012, and are executive produced by Yvonne Jennings and produced by Chris Hulme.
  • All Over the Place USA (13×30) the series returns for a third season as host Ed Petrie and his friends, Naomi Wilkinson, Jonny Pitts, Cellach Spellman, Iain Stirling and Michelle Ackerley, set out to find unusual, strange and amazing places to visit in the US. The movie has been restored in 4K digital resolution for the first time by Paul Rutan Jr. and his team at Triage Motion Picture Services and Eque. Because of the delicate nature of the original hand-drawn artwork, no automated software was used in the digital clean-up of the film’s restored photochemical elements  it was all done by hand, frame by frame. The restored Yellow Submarine will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on June 5, 2012 (June 4 internationally), and the film’s “songtrack” album will be reissued on CD on the same day and date. To find out where Yellow Submarine is playing check out www.facebook.com/YellowSubmarineTheMovie and/or www.YellowSubmarineTheMovie.com.
