Good morning. It’s Tuesday, August 29, 2006 and this is your first early morning Kids! briefing.
NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT
Warner Hanson Television has begun production on its new series Kids On The Farm (13 eps), which is scheduled to bow on public TV stations in 2007. The educational series looks at how kids learn about food and how it tastes through segments that follow kids as they visit farms, and other places food is cultivated (ranches, fishing boats etc). On these field trips they learn how specific foods are grown as well getting to taste the different foods and various ways to to prepare meals. Each episode features noted chefs, as well as parents, farmers and teachers telling healthy eating-related stories. The series also incorporates an educational outreach program in schools and on the web, including lesson plans, classroom materials, video clips and a companion cookbook as well as local events in select markets featuring chefs, kids, and farmers, and a line of kids’ kitchen clothing from Chefwear, Inc. Sponsors and educational partners so far include Whole Foods Market, The California Strawberry Commission, The Walnut Marketing Board, Seeds of Change/Masterfoods. Additional sponsors are being sought. Warner Hanson Television produced the series Chefs A ‘Field.
