04/12/11

Good morning. It’s Tuesday, April 12, 2011, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

Spain’s Magic Box International and PPI Worldwide have teamed up with Peru-based Aronnax Animation Studios to produce an animated series based on the Gogo’s Crazy Bones collectable figures.  A pilot for the series is currently in production and will be done by October 2011; with the entire animated Gogo’s Crazy Bones series is slated to be complete in 2012.  US-based Televix Entertainment will distribute the series worldwide.

MORE KIDS STUFF

PBS furthers its multiplatform educational media efforts as PBS Kids Go! launches two new animated web series, Chuck Vanderchuck’s Something Something Explosion and Noah Comprende aimed at K6-9.  New webisodes of both series will rollout monthly on PBSKidsGo.org ( www.pbskidsgo.org  ), each integrating original interactive games and activities into the narrative.  Both properties are funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

  • Produced by Scholastic Media and Soup2Nuts, Chuck Vanderchuck’s Something Something Explosion (
  • www.pbskidsgo.org/chuck/ ) is designed to help kids understand music and music composition via a webseries and online games and activities.  Each webisode allows kids to be a member of the band and interact with Chuck, lead singer and head of the band, and Ramona, a band member who helps make Chuck’s big ideas a reality.  Chuck and Ramona present five different musical genres, Salsa, Jazz, Rock, Country, and Reggae, and a range of different instruments.  The site contains additional content such as videos, printable posters, MP3’s, maps and facts that allow children to further explore each genre.  Specific areas explored include basic rhythmic and melodic patterns, as well as geography and cultural lessons related to music genres.

  • Produced by Thirteen for WNET, Noah Comprende (
  • www.pbskidsgo.org/noah  ) features Noah (9) as he visits his grandmother in her community, where nobody speaks English.  Each episode follows Noah as he tries to learn Spanish, making many mistakes along the way.  In each animated video, a misunderstanding launches a humorous adventure for Noah and his pet mouse Pequeno.  With Pequeno’s help, Noah manages to solve the problems he’s created, learning Spanish in the process.  Each interactive video offers kids the opportunity to roll their cursor over objects on the screen to hear the Spanish translation. Three different vocabulary-driven, arcade-style games reinforce learning presented in the series, with another game featuring common Spanish expressions.
