~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

SOAPnet has acquired all four seasons of both The O.C. and One Tree Hill distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution. Both drama series will be stripped Monday-Friday beginning April 9, with One Tree Hill airing at 5p and The O.C. at 6p.

Da Vinci’s Inquest, from Program Partners, has been reupped for a third syndication season and is slated to return this fall with 91 original episodes in addition to some first-run episodes. Da Vinci’s Inquest has been cleared in all top 20 markets and will air on affiliates from station groups Belo, CBS, Cox, Hearst-Argyle, Media General, Meredith, Raycom, Sinclair and Tribune. The series is produced by Haddock Entertainment and Barna-Alper Productions.

Clearances for Warner Bros.‘ new syndicated 30m entertainment series TMZ has reached 60% of the country, including the Fox stations (which you knew about already).  TMZ is based on the online AOL/Time Warner website focusing on celebrity news.  The show is a 5x week strip series, 30m, sold on a cash + barter (1-1/2m) basis; with a companion weekend 60m show. In addition to the series, TMZ will provide local stations a TMZ module for the station’s website, as well as a newsfeed function with information available 24/7 for use by the local stations news department.  TMZ is produced by Telepictures Prods, Harvey Levin Prods and paraMedia inc.

CBS Corporation will sell seven of its owned television stations to Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. for $185 million. The sale, pending FCC approval, includes CBS affiliates KEYE/Austin and KUTV/Salt Lake City and its satellite station KUSG/St. George, UT; and the CW affiliates WLWC/Providence and WTVX/West Palm Beach and two low power stations in West Palm Beach: WTCN-CA (MyNetworkTV) and WWHB-CA (TV Azteca). The CBS Television Stations Group currently has 39 total stations consisting of 21 CBS affiliates, 11 CW affiliates, three MyNetworkTV affiliates and four other independent stations.

Gospel Music Channel (GMC) added more than one million new subscribers at the end of fourth quarter 2006 as a result of two recent deals with Metrocast Cablevision and Blue Ridge Communications. With these two new launches, GMC is now available in almost 100 DMAs around the country.

According to Nielsen Media Research and its annual report Projected Estimates of TV Households and Persons 2008 to 2050, the total number of TV households in the U.S. is expected to increase by 47% to 163.7 million in 2050 from 111.4 million.

Crown Media Holdings, Inc., owner and operator of the Hallmark Channel, has renewed a multi-year distribution deal with Mediacom Communications Corporation, whereby the more than one million Mediacom customers will continue to receive the Hallmark Channel. Mediacom, being the 8th largest cable television company, serves smaller U.S. cities and towns.

Correction: In yesterday’s Cynopsis, the ratings chart should have listed the premiere of CBS’ Rules of Engagement at 930p instead of Old Christine. The debut show pulled a 9.8/14 in HH and a 5.2/12 among A18-49 from 930-10p.

Tuesday – A18-49 AnalysisFOX held onto its Tuesday night lead with an 11.8/28 A18-49, according to fast affiliate ratings from Nielsen Media Research. CBS came next at 3.6/9, followed by NBC 3.2/8, ABC 2.3/6, UNIV 1.7/4, CW 1.6/4 and TELE 0.4/1. FOX’s double blockade of American Idol at 8p, winning with 13.4/33, and House at 9p ranking #1 with 10.2/24, once again shut out the competition both hours. NBC then won the 10p time period with Law & Order: SVU at 4.8/12.
