British Olympic Association CEO Andy Hunt will leave the organization after guiding the country to its most successful Games medal haul in 104 years. “Now that the Games are over, and the organization’s strategy for the next four years is taking shape, the BOA’s responsibilities and the job of the CEO are different, and I feel it’s the right time for me to move on to another leadership role with breadth and profile similar to the responsibilities I’ve fulfilled since 2008,” he said in a statement. Plans remain unclear on when a successor will be named.
NHL realignment is once again on the table, and the league hopes to have a new look finalized within the next two weeks, according to Yahoo. The last plan to split the league into four conferences instead of two was shelved after players derailed the plans due to travel and playoff qualification concerns. This time around, deputy commissioner Bill Daly stated that the new plan will differ as the league revisits the idea.
TNT is set to run a special NBA All-Star edition of NBA TV’s Open Court on Feb. 16, at 7p, heading into the State Farm All-Star Saturday Night coverage. The special will feature both TNT and NBA TV analysts sharing All-Star memories, and discussing why NBA All-Star events are so popular with fans, and how the events continue to evolve. Ernie Johnson moderates the panel with Charles Barkley and Reggie Miller, Steve Kerr, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, Chris Webber and Steve Smith.
Speaking of NBA All-Star, the league announced that this year’s events will have unprecedented global coverage, reaching fans live in 215 countries and territories in 47 languages on their televisions, computers, mobile devices, and tablets. The league has also added 11 new television partners for All-Star this year from countries such as China, Georgia, Germany, India, Russia and Tanzania.
ESPN SportsCenter anchor Kevin Negandhi has been tapped to host ESPN’s studio coverage of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship, where he will replace seven-year host Trey Wingo. Negandhi will join analysts Kara Lawson and Carolyn Peck in studio for first- and second-round and regional action, as well as on-site in New Orleans for ESPN’s Final Four coverage. The trio will also take part in the network’s Play 4Kay initiative.
CBS Sports Network will carry ONE2ONE: Mike Krzyzewski on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 6:30p. The 30-minute show features an in-depth interview with the all-time winningest coach in Division I men’s basketball history, who sits down with Alaa Abdelnaby to discuss how he and the sport have changed over the years, his rekindled passion for coaching, and the role his family plays in his success.
ESPN Deportes’ coverage of the Caribbean World Series last week featuring the baseball winter league teams from the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela, delivered a 1.1 average Hispanic household coverage rating to mark a 38% uptick over last year’s numbers, according to Nielsen. The games drew 77,000 Hispanic viewers. Coverage was highlighted by the Mexico/Dominican Republic matchup which drew a 1.8 Hispanic household score.
For the sixth consecutive year, BTN is gearing up to televise seven winter Big Ten Championships, with sports that include men’s and women’s swimming and diving, wrestling, men’s and women’s indoor track and field and men’s and women’s gymnastics. Coverage begins with the Big Ten Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships at noon on Saturday, March 2.
The Astros have found their voices. The team announced that Alan Ashby will be calling games with Bill Brown this season.
Time Warner Cable Deportes revealed its on-air team for the channel’s upcoming coverage of the LA Galaxy. Talent will include Martin “El Pulpo” Zuniga, Elmur Souza, Enrique AnibalGutierrez, Hipolito Gamboa, Ricardo Celis and Samuel Jacobo. Coverage begins with the Galaxy’s match against Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintleson February 19.
Comcast SportsNet Bay Area is on a roll with telecasts of the Golden State Warriors this season. Through 50 games, the channel is averaging a 2.68 household rating, in the San Francisco DMA to score a 49% boost over the 1.80 average household rating posted at the end of the 2011-12 season.
ONE World Sports entered into a licensing agreement with the Nippon Television Network Corporation to bring Japanese baseball team, the Yomiuri Giants – current Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) champion and holder of 22 NBP Championship titles – to audiences in North America. The deal calls for ONE World Sports to have exclusive North American rights to broadcast 72 Giants 2013 regular season games via television and broadband, from March 29 through September.

The deal will see Denny Hamlin driving the No. 11 Sports Clips Toyota for two Sprint Cup Series races on May 11 and Sept. 1. Elliott Sadler will carry the colors for seven races in the Nationwide Series.
The Spirit of Blue Foundation is partnering with Outdoor Channel for an initiative designed to keep law enforcement officials safe. The alliance will see Outdoor Channel runs PSAs, host web banners across online properties and assist the foundation with fund raising efforts. Actor Vincent D’Onofrio anchors the PSA.
NBA Digital is taking fans inside NBA All-Star Media Day for the first time through a partnership with American Express. The deal will see digital and live stream access to their favorite players on Feb. 15th at 1:30p. In the days leading up to the event, fans can submit their questions via Twitter using #AmexAllStar for an opportunity to hear player answers live.

MLB Network has picked up former ESPN and ABC Sports director Mike Martin. In addition, the channel has promoted Rich Ciancimino and Ethan Kleinberg to coordinating producers.
Rolanda Gaines has been named Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications at FOX Sports South, FOX Sports Carolinas, FOX Sports Tennessee and SportSouth. Gaines will oversee the strategic planning and execution of on-air promotions, off-channel marketing, joint marketing with team partners, and communications including public relations and social media.
