Trifecta Entertainment & Media will handle syndication and all advertising sales for the new original action-adventure series, Rescue 3 from Gregory J. Bonann, the creator and executive producer of Baywatch.  The one-hour series centers on Southern California’s elite multi-agency task force, Rescue 3 comprised of members of Los Angeles’ Lifeguard, Firefighter and Coast Guard agencies.  Rescue 3 will launch in fall 2013 and is set to launch on the Tribune Stations for the 2013-14 broadcast season as part of a two-year deal.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

ABC ordered paranormal drama Weird Desk straight-to-series consisting of 13 episodes from ABC Studios and Canada’s Shaftesbury Films.  The drama is about a clandestine organization that handles mysterious paranormal cases from the CIA and National Security Agency.  Carl Binder (Stargate) and David Titcher (The Librarian) are writing the script and Shaftesbury’s Tom Mazza and Maggie Murphy will serve as EPs.  ABC has slated Weird Desk to premiere in summer 2013.

FOX ordered a dating series pilot from Endemol under the tentative title Babes on a Bus.  The project is based on a successful format that originated in Norway which offers a new twist on matchmaking.  The concept will have ten single women looking for the man of their dreams as they travel to various small towns around the country on a bus.  At each stop they will be introduced to the town’s best bachelors who will try to impress them with the local scenery and local food.  At the end of each week, the women can either choose to stay or join the bus headed for the next town.  Endemol has already sold the format in Denmark, Germany, Norway, France, the Netherlands and Slovenia.

Bravo Media has approved two new scripted pilots ready to begin production in early 2013.  Rita, from Fox Television Studios, is an adaptation of a Danish format of the same name.  Rita is described as an edgy, humorous and acerbic family drama about an outspoken private school teacher who struggles to raise her own three teenagers while dealing with the bureaucracy and overprotective parents at her school.  Krista Vernoff will write the script and be EP along with Mikkel Bondesen and Henrik Bastin of Fuse Entertainment 2.0.  The second pilot project is titled The Joneses from creator Liz Tigelaar and is a remake of the 2009 Demi Moore and David Duchovny independent film of the same name.  The Joneses follows a seemingly perfect family of four that has just moved to an upscale suburb to start a new life but have a secret that they must keep which is they are not a family at all.  ABC Studios is producing with Tigelaar serving as producer with Gary Fleder and Mary Beth Basile at Mojo Films along with Echo Lake.  Bravo has plans to premiere its first original scripted series in fourth quarter 2013.

Independent production company Atlas Media Corp., specializing in non-fiction television series and specials, reports it is concluding 2012 on a high note with a year of growth including 100-plus hours of original television programming comprising 15 projects.  Atlas Media’s 2012 projects include Travel Channel’s Hotel Impossible which debuted season two on Monday; the third season of Stalked: Someone’s Watching on Investigation Discovery launching December 12; as well as new series Auction Agent for HGTV; a second season of Raising House on DIY Network; and continuing production on Dr. G: Medical Examiner for TLC and Discovery Fit & Health among many other projects.  Furthermore Atlas Media has commenced production on a new docu-soap series which is scheduled to premiere on E! in primetime in early 2013.

Casting Call: HGTV’s House Hunters Renovation is currently casting for season two of the reality show highlighting the emotional experience of house hunting and purchasing a property in the Los Angeles, Orange or Ventura counties (properties that fall within the 30-mile studio zone).  Producers are looking for couples or families that meet their criteria  those who are purchasing a property and planning to renovate in the LA, Orange and Ventura county area.  The application can be found at: http://www.pietown.tv/Shows/hhreno.html or send an email directly to Andrea Martin at: [email protected].
