A CYNOPSIS MESSAGE FROM SUNDANCE CHANNEL
Sundance Channel and Grey Goose Entertainment INNOVATORS, GROUND SHAKERS, RULE BREAKERS Tonight 10 PM E/P CYNTHIA TURNER’S
Good morning. It’s Thursday, December 15, 2005, and this is your first early morning briefing. The return of NFL Football to NBC kicks off its six year deal next September, and the network has announced it will also produce a primetime pre-game studio show with host Bob Costas, along with analyst Cris Collinsworth. Costas will also call the game with analyst and he-man football guy John Madden. The studio show called Football Night in America will air at 7p, and kickoff for the Sunday night game will be at 8:15p. The first game of the new season will air on Thursday night, September 7. All toll, NBC will have 16 games on Sunday nights, as well as two post season Wild Card games, and three primetime preseason games. NBC will also have two Super Bowl games – 2009 and in 2012, and will also have the Pro Bowl games on each of those two years. Tonight’s Finale: * MORE GOOD STUFF *CSTV: College Sports Television will launch Season #2 of its half-hour interview series One2One on January 8 at 9p. The premiere episode will feature interviews with coach Roy Williams, University of North Carolina. After the success of the original special, Bravo has ordered 6 more 30-minute episodes of Outrageous and Contagious: Viral Videos. The series highlights the most outrageous cyber videos infiltrating email boxes throughout the world. The first episode is scheduled for first quarter 2006, and each will feature the most popular of the video clips – you know, the ones that you feel compelled to forward on to friends and family. Oxygen and Comcast announced the cable network will be available in the Philadelphia and Boston areas starting this month. With the addition of these two markets, the #4 and #5 DMAs, Oxygen’s subscriber base reaches nearly 58 million homes. Oxygen is already available on Comcast systems in Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas and Atlanta. here! signed a carriage agreement with Akimbo Systems’ Internet-delivered video-on-demand (VOD) service for television. The service’s customers will gain access to here!’s original and acquired movies, series, specials, news and documentaries. Earlier this week you may have heard of Amp’d Mobile for the first time when you read CBS and UPN were providing several select shows as content for the new broadband wireless service. Yesterday, MTV Networks announced it would invest $50 million in the Amp’d Mobile service, and provide video clips, ringtones, ringbacks, screensavers, wallpapers, etc., from MTVNs’ various properties. Together MTVN and Amp’d will develop original content exclusively for Amp’d Mobile subscribers, in addition to developing joint marketing and promotions across MTV Networks’ brands and screens. Amp’d Mobile kicks off its soft launch today at Ampdmobile.com, with a full launch planned before year’s end. A little dos-e-doe (sp?) for ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Stepping to the side is hip hop star Romeo. Stepping in will be Romeo’s father, also known as recording artist Master P. Note to self: The last time I saw Carol Burnett in Once Upon a Mattress was in 1974 when she played Princess Winnifred. Now, a little older, a little wiser, and perhaps a little meaner, she’s playing the fabulously evil queen. As for the princess this time? Tracey Ullman. Sunday. ABC. 7p. Oh yeah. * NEW ORDERS / CASTING / DEVELOPMENT / PRODUCTION *A&E has made some critical decisions about its programming, according to Hollywood Reporter. The network has ordered up a third season of Dog the Bounty Hunter from Hybrid Films with an order for 26 new episodes. Season #3 will launch in February. The network has also ordered up additional seasons of Inked from Foglight Ent and Fox TV Studios, and Criss Angel Mindfreak from Angel Prods and The Firm. The two shows have received orders of 20 eps and 18 eps, respectively. The news is not as good for A&E’s Growing Up Gotti and Airline. Perhaps supplying subtitles for the sons became more of a chore that it was worth, but the bottom line is the Gottis will not be back for another season. And after three seasons, the network’s other reality series Airline which focused on the day-in and day-out operations at Southwest Airlines, has been permanently grounded. Fox has ordered a script for an untitled drama project set in a la-di-da Beverly Hills animal hospital. Written by Lou Berney, the project would be produced by 20th, and Phase Two. Also ordered by Fox from Phase Two and 20th is a script of a project called Wacko. From writers Barry Safchik and Michael Platt, the premise is based on Platt’s real at home life where he tries to retain some semblance of sanity in a family where dad is gone, and certifiably insane mom is left in charge of the family fortune. * EXECUTIVE MOVES *E! Networks has promoted Barry Nugent to SVP/Talent Development & Casting. In his elevated role, Barry will oversee the team responsible for talent development, including all celebrity booking and casting of non-fiction original series and programming for E! Networks. Additionally, he will be instrumental in implementing casting strategies and developing key relationships between E! Networks and the Hollywood talent community. LIME has appointed Judith Tolkow as SVP/Programming. She will oversee development, programming, scheduling and production for LIME content across platforms, including television, broadband, VOD, DVD, Satellite radio, podcasting, and mobile. Talent development and the creation of branded entertainment are also part of her responsibilities. Luke Vander Linden has joined CWB Marketing Group as VP/Integrated Marketing Services. He begins this month and will work with existing and new clients to ensure that every marketing, fundraising and communications decision is made with an eye toward their total communications plan. The Walt Disney Studios has upped Alan Bergman to President, where he will continue to report directly to Dick Cook, Chairman/TWDS, and oversee strategy and operations for all business units. The divisions reporting directly into Bergman include Finance, Technology, Business and Legal Affairs and Human Resources. Previously, Bergman served as EVP/CFO of the studio and was a key member of the executive team and helped shape the overall strategy of the studio.
