NEW PROGRAMMING + DEALS

Pinterest has announced a partnership with Getty Images in which it will pay Getty to include more displayed information on its pinned photos, such as the name of the photographer and the date it was taken.
In other words: A Pinterest blog announcement noted that research revealed that the more a user knows about a pin, the more she finds it valuable.

CONTENT MEDIA

YouTube’s darling channel, PewDiePie, has set another record for the video giant with more than 15 million subscribers. Not only did the man behind the channel, Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, set a record for YT, but he also did it in record time. Since August the channel has brought in a whopping million users every month. PewDiePie first surpassed the previous top channel Smosh on August 15.

The first two seasons of Fox’s comedy Breaking In are now available on all of Crackle platforms until April 2014. Also, the site will feature the complete series of Spike‘s Blue Mountain State, and season five and six of FX’s The Shield and Damages.

Next on the Netflix agenda: in-season binge-watching. Mashable reports that Netflix is reluctant to give viewers an all-access-pass to episodes in a current TV show’s season even if networks want to grant the option.
In Other Words: Netflix believes that shows with limited access are more valuable and key to reeling in subscribers. With the rise in multiple screen TV consumption, FX and Turner are adding to the melee by telling studios they will not pick up new series unless they have the rights to make in-season binge-watching available to viewers.

RESEARCH

A new study from the Association of National Advertisers and Nielsen found half of all media campaigns will be multiscreen by 2016. Currently, only 20 percent of ad campaigns are running on two or more screens simultaneously. The survey was conducted during July and August 2013.
In other words: The biggest reason this reality is still three years away is measurement challenges: the study found that 71 percent of advertisers use different metrics to assess the effectiveness of these multiscreen ads. And a resounding 73 percent want a single standardized measurement system. Until that’s resolved, there’s a wait.

Unruly Media’s most shared brands for the month of October have come in:
1.  Carrie and the Coffee Shop Hoax: 2.1 million shares
2.  GoPro: 578,910 shares
3.  Poo-Pourri: 418,023 shares
4.  Samsung Note 3 ad: 418,723 shares
5.  Geico Hump Day Campaign: 261,350 shares.

During an earnings call last week, Facebook’s CFO David Ebersman admitted that the site has seen a decline in daily users among young teens. This validated the Pew Research Center’s 2013 Teens, Social Media and Privacy report, which revealed that just 23 percent of teens find Facebook important. Facebook did not clarify what “young teens” refers to, and does not break out its user total by age groups. However, Twitter, Instagram and SnapChat all continue to boast high teen usage.
