A CYNOPSIS MESSAGE FROM WARNER BROS. DOMESTIC CABLE DISTRIBUTION
Inspired by the Domestic Adventures of Entertainment Superstars ALL OF US CONTINUES TO GROW ALL OF US CYNTHIA TURNER’S
Good morning. It’s Monday, November 14, 2005, and this is your first early morning briefing. AOL is diving deeper in the TV business, announcing today that it will begin distributing episodes of more than 300 television series starting in January. The episodes will be available at AOL.com’s new In2TV broadband network, and they will be free. Yes, that’s right, free, with very limited advertising. Among the initial offerings are shows from the Warner Bros. library, currently out of syndication, such as Welcome Back Kotter and Wonder Woman, and the cult favorite La Femme Nikita. The shows will be categorized onto six channels within the In2TV network according to genre – for instance, Beetlejuice will be available on Toontopia TV, LOL TV will include Chico and the Man, and Rush TV will carry The Fugitive. As far as union fees for the episodes, talent will receive residuals for episodes played on AOL just as they would if they ran in syndication. Not all 300 series will be available all the time – rather, In2TV will rotate shows thru its service, offering just 10 eps of each series for the first cycle, and in the first year just 100 series will be included. Tonight’s Finale: * MORE GOOD STUFF *The Golf Channel will kick off a new limited unscripted series on Tuesday at 10p called The Natalie Gulbis Show. The series runs four episodes and stars Gulbis, considered to be one of the brightest youngs tars on the LPGA Tour. Cameras follow Gulbis and she goes about her day with family and work between tour events, including photo shoots, guest appearances and just plain goofing around with friends and family. Weekend Box Office Estimates: November 11-13, 2005 * NEW ORDERS / CASTING / DEVELOPMENT / PRODUCTION *The WB is looking at another DC Comics superhero as the potential focus of a new primetime series. WB has given a put pilot commitment to Aquaman from Warner Bros. TV. The project will focus on a young Arthur Curry (aka Aquaman), in much the same way Smallville focuses on a young Superman. In fact, this project has the producers/writers of Smallville on board – Al Gough and Miles Millar. In this project there won’t be any seahorse riding, rather our young hero will concentrates his efforts above sea level, fighting environmental threats, without the help of the sea life. NBC has given a script commitment for a comedy project called 5-0, about a shorter than usual police officer (his height explains the title) who often works undercover utilizing his lack of height to his advantage. According to Variety, Greg Coolidge is signed on to write and exec produce the project for H2F Entertainment and NBC Universal TV Studio. NBC pilot project Heist from Sony Pictures TV, Hypnotic and NBC Universal, has cast Dougray Scott in the lead role. Heist is an ensemble project that follows the process of planning and executing three simultaneous jewelry store robberies, over the course of a single season. Scott will play the brains behind the operation. Others previously cast include David Walton, Reno Wilson, Seymour Cassel and Marika Dominiczyk, says Hollywood Reporter. Dick Wolf’s NBC project Conviction has added to its midseason series cast with Eric Balfour and Milena Govich. Both will play young Assistant District Attorneys, an office which is the focus of the series. WWE wrestler Eduardo Gory Guerrero was found dead in his hotel room on Sunday morning in Minneapolis where he was to be part of a WWE show that evening. Guerrero was 38, was married and had three children. Cause of death is unknown and an autopsy is planned. Guerrero’s nephew, Chavo Guerrero, also a wrestler with the show, said that while his uncle had talked about prior drug and alcohol use, he had been clean and sober for the past four years. Correction : Canada‘s Food Network has ordered 13 episodes of a new spring series called Food Jammers from Peace Point Entertainment Group. This was incorrectly listed on Friday, inferring it was the US Food Network. Nope. It’s the one to the north. * EXECUTIVE MOVES *Touchstone Television has named Steve Tann as the new head of Current Programming, overseeing the studio’s slate of 18 comedy and drama series across four networks. Additionally, Morella Bella was added to Tann’s team as Manager, and other execs will be brought on as the season progresses. Atlantic Video, Inc., upped Ed Milligan to President, overseeing the company’s four business units: Atlantic Creative, Pyramid Newsport, AV Remote Operations and AV Technical Facility centers in Washington, New York and Los Angeles. Ed will further the company’s initiatives to become a national single-point service provider for creative, management and technical production requirements. * RATINGS *Nov Sweep: Day #8 – Thursday — A18-49 Analysis: Thursday night was easily won by CBS, and in fact the only real Adult 18-49 players for the night were CBS and NBC, according to final numbers from Nielsen Media Research.
