Cynopsis: Kids!
05/09/11
Good morning. It’s Monday, May 9, 2011, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.
Ricky Gervais joins the cast of Spy Kids: All The Time In The World, the 3D family Dimension Films movie written/directed by Robert Rodriguez. Gervais will serve as the voice of the robot spy dog, Argonaut. The movie is set for an August 19, 2011 release. Spy Kids: All The Time In The World also stars Jessica Alba, Jeremy Piven, Joel McHale, and as the kids Rowan Blanchard and Mason Cook. Reprising their roles from the previous Spy Kids movies are Antonio Banderas, Danny Trejo, Alexa Vega, and Daryl Sabara. Dimension Films is part of The Weinstein Company (TWC).
Guess what? More casting news for The Hunger Games (a shocker, I know), the Lionsgate movie that Gary Ross is directing, which is based on the first book in Suzanne Collins‘ The Hunger Games book trilogy. Newcomers Imanol Yepez-Frias and Annie Thurman will serve as the boy/girl tributes from District 9.
Disney Channel will premiere its new original TV movie Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure on Sunday, May 22 at 8p. The movie debut will simulcast on Sprint TV and MobiTV. Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure stars Ashley Tisdale reprising her High School Musical role as Sharpay Evans. Written by Robert Horn (the Broadway show 13, writer/producer Designing Women), the movie is directed by Michael Lembeck, and choreographed by Michelle Johnston (Chicago). The movie also stars Austin Butler (Life Unexpected), Bradley Steven Perry (Good Luck Charlie) and Cameron Goodman (The Suite Life of Zack & Cody), Alec Mapa (Ugly Betty), and Jack Plotnick (Shake It Up). Additionally, returning in their High School Musical roles are Robert Curtis Brown and Jessica Tuck as Sharpay’s parents, and Lucas Grabeel as her brother. Executive produced by Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush (High School Musical movies) and Tisdale, the Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure is a production of Borden Rosenbush Entertainment Production and Princessa Productions. Disney Studios Home Entertainment released the movie on Blu-ray and DVD last month.
Nickelodeon Favorites: Big Box of Play Dates, Vol. 2, featuring Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go!, The Wonder Pets!, Blue’s Clues, Yo Gabba Gabba!, and Ni Hao, Kai-lan, is set for release this June 21, 2011. Created by Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment, the special box set includes DVD titles We Love Our Friends (love-themed episodes of the preschool series), Sisters and Brothers (sibling-themed episodes) and Summer Vacation (vacation episodes).
Dancing Ducks Entertainment launches its preschool/family-targeted multimedia educational website, Wisharoopark.com ( www.wisharoopark.com ). The website focuses on encouraging young kids to use their imagination and creativity, while also teaching social skills and bolstering their self-esteem. Wisharoopark.com is based on characters created by Paula A. Luciano for the Wisharoo Park TV series, which originally aired on PBS stations (1999-2003).

Answer to Yesterday’s Trivia: These items are included in who’s cook book? Critter Corn Fritters, Betwixt and Between Lima Bean Casserole, Pawpaw Puddin’, and Dagnabbits among numerous others? GRANNY’S HILLBILLIES COOKBOOK Kudos to: Ellen Donahue-Fisher Price/NY; Hank Bordowitz-The Bordowitz Media Werx/NJ; Richard Quan-Butler Shine Stern Partners/San Francisco
Today’s Trivia Question: What classic TV character provided this advice to his young son: “It doesn’t matter what you look like. You can be tall or short, or fat or thin, or ugly or handsome, or you can be black or yellow or white. It doesn’t matter. What does matter is the size of your heart and the strength of your character.” (This was then immediately followed by another character saying to dad — You’re a pretty nice guy. You’re no Norman Vincent Peale, but you’re a pretty nice guy.”) Hint: It was not Andy Taylor. (Email [email protected] with your answer and be sure to include your name, company, city and time zone. Unofficial rules: Only the second four correct answers from each time zone will be mentioned; and once you’ve been mentioned in any of the Cynopsis editions, you can’t be mentioned again that calendar week.)
