Nick at Nite has picked up the cable syndication rights to The CW’s off-net comedy Everybody Hates Chris, from CBS TV Distribution, on a cash + 2m barter basis, and a minimum of 80 episodes. In the nonexclusive four-year deal, NAN will debut the sitcom in the fall of 2009, and plans to air it in primetime. Everybody Hates Chris has already been cleared in off-network broadcast syndication for fall 2009 in 52% of the U.S. on stations from the Fox, CBS, Cox Television and Weigel Broadcasting station groups. 

Beginning June 8, USA Network will serve up dramas during Sunday primetime with season seven of Law & Order: Criminal Intent at 9p, followed by USA’s new original drama In Plain Sight at 10p.

Intel launches a branding campaign today to be the “Intel Inside” multiplatform content devices. The Atom family of microprocessors is designed to power pocket-sized, internet-connected gadgets and low cost PCs expected to hit the market later this year. CYNOPSIS KIDS – TODAY’S TOP STORYA collection of some 40 media companies (animation, gaming and digital entertainment, studios etc.) have officially expressed interest in taking part in India’s Animation and Gaming City (AKA Digital Entertainment City), a 100-acre site being proposed by the Indian government, that would be located in Hyderabad, according to a report at TheHindu.com.  If the project moves forward, Animation and Gaming City could be the biggest animation and gaming center in South-East Asia.  In addition to being a business hub, the animation and entertainment center would also be a place where students could be educated and trained.  Similar entertainment industry based campuses currently exist in Dubai, Singapore and Korea.  Full edition: CYN KIDS.

CYNOPSIS INTERNATIONAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY VC iLabs Capital is adding its two cents (a little more than that) to the Bollywood industry by acquiring a 60% stake Mumbai’s Lehren Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. through its Affiliated Media Company subsidiary in order to launch the first Bollywood news and gossip channel.  The anticipated launch date is for April 14 with the dry run happening in mid-March.  The “Hinglish” free-to-air Lehren TV will have chat and gossip formats and more.  Lehren will include a broadband portal and a 10,000-hour video library.  In addition to buying the Lehren stake, iLabs is launching a Mumbai-based, Hindi-language station titled TV9 Mumbai through Associated Broadcasting Company Pvt Ltd.  iLabs and Unified Group own 80% of the latter company.    Full edition: CYN INTERNATIONAL

Thursday – A18-49 Analysis:  FOX was the undisputed leader Thursday night with 7.2/18 A18-49, according to final national ratings from Nielsen Media Research. American Idol overwhelmingly won at 8p with 9.1/24. At 9p, ABC’s Lost came in first with 5.4/13 just a little ahead of FOX’s Don’t Forget the Lyrics at 5.2/13. Competition was thick during 10p yet the Without a Trace repeat on CBS with 2.6/7 beat out the two freshmen dramas ABC’s Eli Stone and NBC’s Lipstick Jungle at 2.5/7 each.

National Geographic Society has named two to its National Geographic Society board of trustees: botanist and conservationist Peter H. Raven and investment banker Tracy R. Wolstencroft. They join 19 other trustees who are leaders in the fields of science, education, law, business, finance, government and public service.

Former Univision/TeleFutura sales executive, Frank Donaldson joined V-me, the Spanish digital television network as SVP/Director of Sales. Frank will supervise all facets of the network’s sales operations including national advertising and sponsorships and the national sales force. Based in New York, he will report directly to Carmen DiRienzo, President.

Jeff Hamstad advances to VP/Human Resources with Comcast Spotlight, the advertising sales unit of Comcast Cable. Jeff will lead the development and execution of the division’s HR policies, programs and practices that cover employee relations, compensation, training, talent management and employee services. In addition, he will implement new systems and technologies with the goal to improve employee performance and retention.

Food Network tapped Beth Burke as Director/Programming who comes from sister network HGTV where she was Director/Programming. Now at the Food Network, Beth will manage production on a variety of projects such as Barefoot Contessa and network specials as well as oversee development on new projects this year. She will also work with the Interactive group on duel content opportunities.

Danielle Coppola was upgraded to VP/Client and Candidate Relations with Carlsen Resources, Inc., the executive search firm specializing in the global media and telecommunications industries. In her new role, Danielle will further develop the company’s list of professional candidates while advancing its relationships with traditional and new media companies that make up the client roster. She will report to Jeannine Sommer, SVP/Search Management.

495 Productions has tapped Drew Tappon as Head of Development, it was announced today by 495’s President Sally Ann Salsano. 495 Productions has also promoted James Bianco from Executive in Charge of Production to Head of Production.
