Good morning, it’s Monday, March 19, 2007 and this is your first early morning briefing.

Carol Burnett has filed a $2 million lawsuit against the 20th Century Fox‘s series Family Guy, claiming copyright infringement.  Burnett’s suit alleges the show used a depiction of her cleaning woman character in an 18 second segment last year, thereby stepping over the copyright line and infringing on Burnett’s exclusive rights to her name and her character. Additionally, the suit claims Family Guy used a slightly altered version of The Carol Burnett Show theme music, again without permission. A statement issued by 20th Century Fox chalks the usage of the character up to parody.

Tonight’s Premiere:
ABC: Dancing with the Stars at 8p

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Fox has ordered up six episodes of Anchorwoman from Studio 21 and starring Amber Smith.  This hybrid reality/scripted series is about a supermodel who returns home to Texas and becomes the anchorwoman for the local news station.

ABC has signed on two popular Brits to host a new pilot, Wanna Bet?, a remake of the German Wetten, dass … ? show.  Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, better known as Ant and Dec, have hosted U.K. shows such as Pop Idol, I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!, and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.  Wanna Bet?, exec produced by Phil Gurin, will start production on a pilot which may also air as a special.  The format includes a mix of celebrity interviews, music, and normal Joes attempting bizarre stunts, according to Variety

Joining the cast of the CBS pilot project Babylon Fields from 20th Century Fox TV is Kathy Baker.  The drama is about dead people coming back to life and just picking up where they left off.  Baker plays a woman who axed her abusive husband to death, and now he’s back.

Fox‘s drama project Hackett from Sony Pictures TV, about a teacher from a large New England city, moving back to his hometown in Ohio, has been pushed back for midseason consideration.  The show had not yet been able to cast the title character.

In CW‘s new drama pilot I Am Paige Armstrong from ABC TV Studio, Jaime Ray Newman has been cast in the title role.  The action takes place in a Congressman’s office, where his twentysomething idealistic aide, Paige Armstrong, becomes fed up with her Congressman’s antics, and decides to run against him in the upcoming election.

Sam I Am from ABC TV Studio, a comedy pilot for ABC has added Kevin Dunn to the cast that stars Christina Applegate as a woman suffering from amnesia.  Dunn plays Applegate’s father.

Casting Call: The producers of ABC’s Supernanny are looking for certified personal trainers, yoga instructors and aerobics coaches to appear on a new weight loss reality show for ABC. If you are a fitness expert and love to get people in shape and inspire them to change their lives, then the producers want to hear from you. Hurry, though, as the application deadline is March 23. Go to www.getfitontv.com/trainer for information on auditions and to download the application.
