Good morning. It’s Monday, March 10, 2008, and this is your first early morning briefing.
We’ll get a look the new live-action movie adaptation of The Incredible Hulk this Wednesday night. Universal Pictures, Marvel Studios and MTV Networks are teaming for an exclusive broadcast of the first teaser trailer for The Incredible Hulk this Wednesday, March 12, at about 9:56, across seven of MTVN channels, including MTV, MTVU, MTV2, VH1, Spike TV, Nick at Nite and CMT. The trailer arrives in movie theaters on Friday, March 14, ahead of the movie Doomsday. The movie opens worldwide on June 13, 2008.
CITV has commissioned Novel Entertainment to produce a second season of the animated series Horrid Henry, which airs on both ITV‘s terrestrial and satellite channels. Heading into production now, season two will include 52×11 and will bow on ITV1 and CITV from spring 2009. The series is based on the Horrid Henry books by author Francesca Simon and illustrator Tony Ross, which is published by Orion Children’s Books.
MySpace and nonprofit iKeepSafe.org unveiled a new internet public safety campaign to promote online safety awareness among parents, educators and teens. Components include a MySpace safety minisite and a PSA that will air on all Fox broadcast and cable networks.
Boomerang programming notes for March include the addition of a young brontosaurus and a celebration of green:
- The network debuts the animated series, Dink, The Little Dinosaur, beginning today at 9a. Dink, a Ruby-Spears Production, that originally premiered on CBS, September 2, 1989, will air on Boomerang, Mondays through Fridays at 9a.
- Boomerang Goes Green with a St. Patrick’s Day Salute to The Flintstones in an 8-hour event, The Great Gazoo Marathon, on Monday March 17, 12p-8p.
The second season of Design Squad is slated to debut on during PBS Kids Go! from April 2 (check local listings). Kicking off the new episodes of the WGBH produced series features the teens is a cardboard furniture challenge at Ikea. The teens created furniture, to the stores specifications, and customers chose the winning product during an in-store vote. Additionally, the show is looking to at home viewers with its Trash to Treasure contest, which asks kids to take everyday items that are heading to the garbage or for recycling and create a new functional use for them ( www.pbs.org/designsquad ).

Hello ABBA fans out there. In December I told you that a multi-floor Abba Museum, dedicated to the Swedish band, was under way with a planned opening set for June 2009. Sure that is more than year away, but if you want to be one of the first to dance through the doors get those typing fingers, and a side of inlagd sill (pickled herring), ready because tickets go on sale via the museum website only (www.abbamuseum.com) from this Thursday, March 13, 10a (Stockholm time, Central European Time), with adult tickets going for $38/each and kids under 15 for $28/each. EXECUTIVE MOVES
Cartoon Network’s original series production and development comes under one roof, as the network appoints Robert Swartz as VP/Original Series. He will be based at Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank and will report to COO, Robert Sorcher. Swartz, who had been Sci-Fi Channel’s VP/Alternative Programming, will oversee the current series and development teams as well as development of all of the network’s animated, live-action and alternative series out of.
Lori Osiecki joins Haydenburri Lane, a branded kid’s product and multi-media company, as head of its art department. Prior to this Osiecki toiled as an illustrator work with brands including American Girl, Northland Publishing, Penguin Putnam, Klutz, Sonic Idexx, Gamewright, Learning Resources, and Young and Rubicam.
