Good morning. It’s Monday, June 21, 2010, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing. To infinity and … Disney-Pixar‘s release of Toy Story 3 in 3D on Friday, June 18, opened at the top of the box office with an estimated worldwide gross of $153.8 million; broken down that is a domestic take of $109 million for the weekend, the biggest Pixar opening weekend ever, and, per Box Office Mojo, an international tally of $44.8 million. In the record setting department, Toy Story 3 set a new animated movie opening day record on Friday with box office receipts totaling an estimated $41 million domestically, knocking Shrek the Third (5/18/2007) out of the top spot of $38.4 million, while also becoming Imax’s largest animated movie open ever, earning $8.4 million on 180 screens, and the biggest G-rated movie opening, as well as possibly edging out last summer’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen as the biggest June movie opening ever. Shrek the Third still holds the top spot for the biggest animated movie weekend opening ever with $121.6 million. Toy Story 3 opened domestically on some 7,500 movie screens at 4,028 movie houses, just under 2,500 of which were in 3D.
