Good morning, it’s Monday, June 11, 2007 and this is your first early morning briefing.
Once you get past all the Tony Soprano and Paris Hilton news of the weekend … here’s a huge deal for NBC Universal Domestic TV Distribution – Howie Mandel has agreed to host the daytime syndicated version of Deal or No Deal, scheduled to launch in the fall of 2008, reports TV Week. What is not made definite yet is whether the show will be a 30m version or a full 60m version.
Tonight’s Premieres:
ABC Family: Kyle XY at 8p
HBO: Big Love at 9p
Big Brother will launch on CBS on Thursday, July 5 at 8p, and as in previous seasons will also air two other nights during the week: Sundays and Tuesdays at 8p and 9p, respectively. This scheduling means Pirate Master, which thus far has failed to truly ignite the viewing audience, will move from its current Thursday night time slot, to Tuesdays at 10p as of July 10th. Also, as reported by Variety, the reality show will also get an unedited spinoff on Showtime’s Showtime Too. Big Brother After Dark will air nightly from 12m-3am as of July 5th, showing feeds from one of the in-house cameras during the hours of 9p-12m. As during previous seasons, live feeds from inside the house will also be available online at a cost of $14.99 per month; and the Big Brother internet talk show House Calls with host Gretchen Massey will also return this year.
A schedule change at CNBC – 1 vs. 100 will begin airing on the news channel as of July 7th at 8p and 11p. That move bounces Deal or No Deal from its repeat time slot. No new time period announced for the repurposes Deal.
Baby Jessica, the little girl saved from the well in Texas, is now nearly 22 years old. Remember where you were when they pulled that toddler out of the well after nearly 60 hours of digging? Me too. This morning, she’ll be interviewed by Matt Lauer on Today, her first interview since the accident. 22! Can you imagine?
Joining the lineup of available TV shows to download on iTunes is the daytime soaper Days of Our Lives, reports Variety. Selling for the standard $1.99 per episode, the Sony show will become available on iTunes tomorrow.
You’ve heard a lot about who is leaving NBC since the departure of Kevin Reilly and the arrival of Ben Silverman and Marc Graboff – here’s one who is staying. Jeff Ingold has signed a multiyear deal to stay on as SVP/Comedy, now reporting to Teri Weinberg newly named head of development.
Weekend Box Office Estimates: June 8-10, 2007
