~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

A slew of pilots cast leading roles:

  • Rachelle Lefevre, recently seen playing “Victoria” on the first two Twilight moves, was selected as a lead for the untitled medical ensemble drama for CBS from John Wells, cites THR. Lefevre will play a confident young doctor who takes charge in the field. The project is produced by Warner Bros. Television and John Wells Productions.
  • NBC also tapped Becki Newton (ABC’s Ugly Betty) to headline its dramedy pilot Love Bites. Newton apparently received 11 offers after the announcement that ABC cancelled Ugly Betty. In Love Bites, Newton will play Annie, an upbeat social worker who is a virgin in this project loosely connecting modern stories of love, sex, marriage and dating.
  • Hawaiian-born Maggie Q is in talks about taking the lead role in The CW’s pilot remake of Nikita from Warner Bros. Television and McG’s Wonderland, where a new “Nikita” is being trained to replace the original one after she goes rogue, reports THR. The potential hire of Maggie Q in the role of Nikita, signifies the highest-profile series role for an Asian actress on a broadcast drama series and the most prestigious CW minority casting since the network launched.
  • CBS’ pilot Hitched from Warner Bros. Television added Kristin Kreuk (Smallville) and Jack Carpenter playing the newlywed couple who have to deal with their family and friends. Eugene Levy was just cast as the groom’s dad.
  • Roselyn Sanchez (Without a Trace) will head ABC’s dramedy pilot Cutthroat from 20th TV about Nina Cabrera (Sanchez), a wealthy Beverly Hills widow and soccer mom who runs an international drug cartel, per THR.
  • Bill Pullman will star along with Jay Harrington in NBC’s comedy pilot Nathan vs. Nurture from Sony TV, per THR. The plot is about an ambitious heart surgeon (Harrington) who reunites with his biological father, Arthur (Pullman) and his underachieving brothers 35 years after his adoption.

Casting Call: Evident Entertainment is looking for couples or event coordinators who are planning or have just recently celebrated a double wedding for an upcoming television project. Interested participants (two brides and two grooms or any combo involving two couples) can live anywhere as long as there is willingness to share the process with production cameras from start to finish. Note: This is not a “Bridezilla” type of show. Please send an email to [email protected] and more details about the show will be provided.
