Cynopsis: Kids!

Good morning. It’s Monday, December 6, 2010, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Actor/author David Walliams‘, creator/star of BBC’s Little Britain, first kid’s book, The Boy In The Dress, is set to be made into a TV movie by Sky, per The Sun.  The program will be produced by Hat Trick (Father Ted, Have I Got News For You), which has begun casting for Dennis, the 12-year-old boy star of the story.  Walliams has two other kid’s books, Mr. Stink and Billionaire Boy.

More Kung-Fu Panda, Penguins of Madagascar and How To Train Your Dragon movies.  DreamWorks Animation‘s Jeffrey Katzenberg lays out plans for several movie sequels in a interview with Empire Online.  In total Katzenberg says that there will be four Penguins of Madagascar movies, six Kung-Fu Panda pictures, and at least three How To Train Your Dragon movies (there are eight Dragon books).  As for if Shrek Forever After, which releases this week on DVD and Blu-ray, is really the last Shrek movie Katzenberg said, “What our movies and our franchises also share in common with Shrek is that they have a beginning, a middle and an end; they’re not open-ended. Each of the films is a chapter of a story and in every instance we knew what that journey was or could be before we even started.”
