The remaining amount went to network and national spots. The 2012 local TV spending jumped by +38% over 2010 and +86% more than the previous presidential election year of 2008. The largest spending occurred surrounding the presidential race, which was 41.8% of the ad dollars while 21.9% was spent on ballot initiatives and 5.1% fell in the “others” category.
