CYNTHIA TURNER’S
Cynopsis

12/19/05

Good morning.  It’s Monday, December 19, 2005, and this is your first early morning briefing.

Today’s Premiere:
NBC:    Deal or No Deal at 8p

Most recent update from the NBC Sales office is it’s inventory of the upcoming Winter Olympics is 90% sold.  The games officially kick off on February 10. Returning this year will be Anheuser-Busch, Coke, Visa, GM, among others, and new to the games will be Target, Exxon, Johnson & Johnson and Applebee’s, among others.

Last you saw Robert Novak he was abruptly leaving the set on CNN last August, apparently displeased with the questioning from by anchor Ed Henry over his alleged involvement in the CIA leak investigation.  Novak’s contract with CNN ends this month, and next time you’ll see him it will be on Fox News as a news contributor.

John Spencer, known most recently to viewers as Leo McGarry on The West Wing, passed away on Friday from an apparent heart attack.  He was 58.  Spencer’s first regular TV role was on The Patty Duke Show at the age of 17 as Henry Anderson. His next major series came years later when he played Tommy Mullaney on LA Law.  Spencer appeared in numerous films including War Games, Presumed Innocent, and The Rock in 1996. In 2002 he won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Act in a Drama for The West Wing, and was nominated in the same category in 2003 and 2004.
